Scenario Announcements
From The Tales Of Wilanda by sharkal
Recently it looks like more people are being cautious about their projects, taking into consideration what people may think of their map. While this is a good step in the direction of quality, the spur of the moment scenarios dwindle as a result. But there is still plenty of both to satisfy most SDers.
sharkal has dazzled us all with his The Tales of Wilanda project, where sceanrios and mods collide with infinite majesty.
DarkEmpire has formulated an interesting idea that some are already calling Elder Scrolls.
And Bartholomeus is making good progress on his upcoming Egyptian RPG.

Eyecandy is doing very well. Deep inside the mystic fairground of SD, the sledgehammer of the community is bearing down on the target of desire, forcing the great slider of quality up until it reaches the bell of excellence, that rings in smug appreciation. A lot of showcases are filled with eye-watering eyecandy, so there are definitely a lot of new artists on the block. The CSC continues to go well, with winners including HailToTheOboe, Beauchamp and Nightfever.
If we keep up this amazing level of eyecandy quality, we might win the giant monkey .

Also, the calendar competition has finally drawn to a close, with Nightfever walking away with the grand trophy. The top 3 entrants can be found in the gallery.

This time gamerrici walks in from the wintery wonderland that we call the HOV.
Reach: Who are you?

gamerrici: I'm Gamer. Gamer rici. Oh well. My real name is Ricardo and I'm a 16 years old guy living in Zurich, Switzerland. Actually, I'm from Portugal. My dad came to Switzerland because of work, 5 years later me and my mother just followed him. I'm currently making a apprenticeship as electrician, in the first year of 4. No, I ain't got a girlfriend at the moment. And no, I'm not thinking about getting one so fast.

This month has heralded the end on an era. The third CSC thread expired, and is now sitting in SD smugly moving down the topic lists with a padlocked grin. But now, we have a new thread that will enlighten our screenshot experience. The fourth great and bountiful continuous screenshot competition thread is now open for voting. It's the first theme, so let's make the next themes even more active and prosperous!

Also, the gallery has an even more exclusive first place entries album, where only the winners of the CSC are allowed in. All winners are given free cake and champagne. The winners of the CSC since my last BFB have been: pubby8, aZeusDude2, Elrich, Nightfever, Vespacianus and SwordOfValor.

Meanwhile, in the land of the Screenshot story thread, the fourth novella is coming to an end. There are some truly excellent screenshots in there complied by the usual suspects; Elirch and relicradar.

This month, JDmino takes to the MOTM podium to tell us all about himself.
Yeebaagooon:
So you've been SDing for a while now and you've released a few maps. What do you think was your greatest?
JDmino: Well, right now I would say Guitar Giants, it was a simple idea I had and I just thought it would be great, Although I do have a few projects coming along rather nicely right now.
Yeebaagooon: Like what?
JDmino: Oh, an RPG, a Colosseum and a little secret
Yeebaagooon: Ah we all have our secrets, some more darker than others. but what happened to you Gem Tower campaign? That looked fairly promising, but now the thread has turned into the wasteland of "This image or video has been moved or deleted,
Love photobucket xxx"
JDmino: Well, I was working on that with Lewonas, but I got a new computer for my birthday and I lost all my files. I haven't asked lewonas for the scenario back though, probably should...
Robot Entertainment making a new RTS? Could it be Age of Mythology 2?
Posted by DragonQ on May 22nd, 2009 @ 3:27 p.m.
Are Robot Entertainment making Age of Mythology 2 or Age of Empires 4? Robot Entertainment have posted several images of their new offices from April 2009 and the shots hint at the possibility of them creating a new RTS game (especially the monitors):

There is also a thread at AgeCommunity.com with rumours running rampant. Could it be AoM2? Does it look more like a possible AoE4? What about those post-it notes on the white board?

What do you think?

Thanks to gunner1 for first noticing this!

And the 25th MOTM was recently announced to be none other than pHraeKAY.
Reach: Best Meme in the history of the internets?

pHraeKAY:A tough question.
I suppose we should start by defining what a meme is.
According to Wikipedia, A meme (pronounced /mi?m/ - rhyming with "dream"), a postulated unit or element of cultural ideas, symbols or practices, gets transmitted from one mind to another through speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena.
Well, I'm sure we're all wondering what the hell that means, so according to a more reliable source:
Originally used to describe packets of cultural information, it was adopted by the internet to describe viral lulz or frunz. Its original meaning is no longer used except by sociology majors. In short, memes are just inside jokes for people who have no friends with whom to have real inside jokes.
That sounds much more accurate.

Screw That Cyclops!

Tired of Thor’s scraggly beard? Cyclops-hoplite action just not getting you off anymore? Gaia too feminist for you? If any of the above apply to you, then listen up! AoMH is opening a sort of contest to the whole of the forum. If you’ve got a bit of a creative streak and want to try your hand at banner design, here’s your chance!

Using the template below, insert a major god of your choice and an Age of Mythology-related graphic(s) in an appropriate area. Please be aware that a graphic cannot exceed the boundary of the banner itself, as it will cut off and look funny. Nidhogg’s wings don’t just disappear, you know?

As images come in, we shall either have a vote to figure the best ones or I shall just cycle through each of them in order of my favorites .

In order to qualify for this contest, your banner needs to make use of the template and must be reasonable as determined by the staff. If your banner is strewn with neon pink and green and has nothing to do with AoM, you probably won’t make it up top. Creativity is encouraged though. When you’ve created your image, you can upload it to an image host to share with the forum, but I will need to receive a copy of the file through e-mail. My e-mail can be found in my profile. Please make the image .png or .jpg.

A couple of other things:
- I have an .xcf file that has cut images of each major god. If you would like the file, e-mail me.
- If you do not have an image editor, I recommend GIMP. It is a free program that, in my experience, is an excellent image editor.
- If you want to use my .xcf file, you’ll need to download GIMP because GIMP is what the .xcf file corresponds to. If you use another image editor, it is unlikely that you’ll be able to make use of the individual layers that contain each major god.
- DragonQ has some other stuff for you as well
  • Fireworks PNG format
  • Photoshop PSD format
  • GIMP XCF format
