I get the feeling ES is going to do alot of balancing tweaks. However, they seem to being tweaking it by eliminating the unique aspects of many civs...like the eggies. The Eggie barracks were just fine, and a unique thing about the eggies was the cheap/free buildings. Now barracks cost almost as much as any other civ. There is talk about getting rid of priest empowering for Ra. I will be so pi55ed off if you follow up with that. First of all, it isn't even unbalanced.

At the end of the alpha, ES decided to dramatically boost all the civs special parts because they felt it would be funner. They were right. Please don't Undo that because there are abunch of stupid noobs *hades27* who b1tch and don't know what they are talking about.

Please tell me DeathShrimp that you read this and you won't ruin a great game.

In the alpha Eggie barrackses were 25 gold.

Eggies don't really make anywhere near as good of a hording civ anymore as they were originally supposed to be...

Greeks are supposed to be the strong but slow civ. The balancing tweak for hippies dealt with that.

We'll see how it turns out..

Yea that's true. The various tweaks ES does unfortunately slowly eliminate some uniqueness. But I don't think this is going to be continued.

I'm not worried because there will probably not be as big changes as were in alpha/beta stage. Six months from now will probably have seen fewer and minor changes than for other big games in the genre. However there has been and still are some bugs that in themselves affect balance between civs, wich as they are dealt with will also in practice change the game a little. But as far as diversity goes those fixes will be all good.

Cause I don't think any civs really had any stone problems.

you just don't get the message, do you hades.

btw, the priest empowering has been brought up by a few forumers here, no ES person has said anything about it....it was just a concern.

*Whew.* I had seen people saying Ra should lose his priest empowering, but I thought you meant that ES was considering it. Actually, I don't like Ra (I don't think he's overpowered, just boring to play as), but if you take away priest empowering...that's like taking away Loki's hersir bonus.

Am I the only one that finds Hades_27's ignoramus commentary amusing? Admit it, it puts a smile on your face. Does it honestly "anger" anyone? If so, that's kind of sad. Remember you're on a video game message board, for pete's sake.

Horrors, we wouldn't want to be that.

Of course, (back on topic) one could go too far in the other direction as well. ES is trying to do their best to prevent any imbalances that could give one civ a large advantage over the others, which would be just as bad, if not worse, then the civs losing their uniqueness

Hades was funny the first 5 or so times, but since then it has gotten rather annoying. And stupid. I don't really see anything funny about spamming the boards with ignorant lies that some hapless newbies will read and believe.

lol Take out Ra empowering. That would be worthwhile

Priests empower at 20%. They take up 2 pop spots. For them to break even pop-wise they have to have 10 laborers at a gathering site. Once that many laborers are at a site they start to bump and lose efficiency. The only real use for the emopowerment is building and early game.

let's see.....two patches in two months. At this rate, we'll see a smile on Hades27's face eventually or until he starts to flame ES with e-mails.
Back on topic though, priest empowering is Ra's unique thing. I highly doubt that ES will take it away *BUT* it's up to them if they want to tweak it or not...for better or for worse.

If they take away priest empowering I'm going back to WC3 fulltime, cause that only shows that ES wants to have the game ****** down by a bunch of lamers who can't stand a chance against good players, and blame it on "unbalanced civs".

Blagh...
