Being without the actual game as of now, I was compelled to download the demo and try my hand at something I had been trounced by time and time again, the moderate AI (laugh if you will, but I have never been that good). I think I know what you guys mean by pressing an aggressive attack. I rushed the opponent as early in the classical age as possible, and destroyed a good portion of his base. However, my units were badly damaged, and seeing as how I had destroyed his TC for the moment, I just harassed some villagers while I was waiting for reinforcements. I realized that I did not have many resources, but with a sufficent amount of villagers, it didn't really matter if I had a huge stockpile or not, because they regenerated fairly quickly. Then it came to me, what I had been going about this game wrong. I had been playing like it was still AOK, and it isn't. Now a human player would probably be able to counter my rush. The fact that I was able to do this proves to me that turtling is not a very good strategy at all in this game. I guess this is somewhat rambling and incoherent, but I just had to tell you all that I finally get what everyone has been saying about this game. It's a game of aggression. Passive static defenses are useful, but only to a point. I still have a long way to go, but I think I have taken a step in the right direction. Please forgive the length of this post and thanks for reading this.
Humbly,
