Ya, stay away from Poseidon pls!!! I play him now!! (Oddly, I only started playing Poseidon AFTER they got nerfed.. DOH!!)
But, recently, i have been playing Zeus (again *sigh*) to just make sure that he is a useless god.
His main bonus is 2x damage from hoplites against buildings.
However, WHAT is the greeks biggest advantage? IMO that would be the catapults in Heroic.
So, why would i spend quite a lot of resources on getting a decent amount of hoplites, upgrading them and sending them in? It makes no sense at all.
Couple of tactics I've been working on:
1) Using hypaspists to take out Huskarls (let's face it, if Norse get to heroic, all they do is spam out 5 hill forts and have a continuous supply of uber-jarls and huskarls).
Hmm.. works nice but it's hellishly expensive to upgrade archery, stable and barrack units to the point that i usually end up with 3 types of decent units rather than 2 types of champion stuff.. or whatever.
Not overly convinced about the use of infantry for Greeks tbh which is a shame. Does anyone out there use them on a regular basis?
2) Fast Heroic with Greeks!!!
I have been getting to heroic at about 7.30 or so.
I got hammered a lot (whilst trying out tactic 1 and 2) so I was playing against 1650 players.
I very much doubt it will be of any use against higher level players who will rush u at 6 mins with a HUGE force but against <1700 players, it kinda works... Plop a fortress in the middle of map to control it, then a second TC asap.
It's a lot harder than Ra FH tho but with all the counter units for Greeks arriving at heroic, it's nice to be able to repel Norse attacks with a handful of peltasts and pods.
Once u have double villager production rate and greater damage potential thru the use of counters, u should do ok.
Ceasefire is superb here cos if the other guy attacks in force, u can cast ceasefire and switch tactics and get out quite a few units during it.
Anyone else have experience with Greek FH?
