Sphinx aren't weak, anymore.
Aside from that, yes ... I would like to see Ra get a little of his old thunder back. Some of the Priests' empower rate should be restored, if not all and if nothing else. +10% just doesn't amount to much.I liked the way Ra could leave the Priest at home and go scouting with his Pharaoh, giving him the best chance of any civ of grabbing one good relic. Effectively, it's as if the Priests nerf robbed Ra of three of his advantages: economic empowerment, decent scouting, and grabbing one relic. Set and Isis have it all-over Ra when it comes to scouting the map as Egypt.I've never quite understood why Rain works the way it does, either. You have to figure that ES considered Rain such a huge advantage, it had to be shared even with enemies. But as an Archaic GP, it makes no sense. Lure and Great Hunt, the other two Archaic food GPs, are useful in Archaic. By contrast, trying to transition to farming in Archaic with Ra is painful and impractical. You can wait until later ages to use it, but at that point everyone benefits ... unless you Locust them moments earlier, I guess. Weird. Go figure.[edit] Stat junkies, please tell me: how fast or slow is Rain-boosted farming in Archaic, compared to hunting with and without Hunting Dogs? Also, did 1.03 make farming slower for everyone in Archaic, or just for Egypt? But anyway ... if I could fix one thing about Ra, I'd give him back his Priests. Having no offensive GPs, he has to make up the difference with sheer economy. Set and Isis are very strong civs. Ra is ... just good.
Thoughtfully,
BSR
