Is it just me or has this been nerfed in AoM? You know, like in AoK you could set down 5 trebs and have 20 hvy cav archers/hand cannoneers/arbalests protect them, while infantry/cavalry would take on any attacking units head on.
I feel like in AoM this ability has been lost. Archery and distance units are nearly ineffective in this game.

i thought that was one of the boring things in aok. you simply couldnt touch the trebuchets if well defended. i think even bombard towers couldnt hit them. your town was razed in a couple of seconds. now, when a catapult is attacking, arrows of your buildings can hit the surrounding soldiers or you can easily take the catapults out. it was fun to kill somebody with the trebs, but when u was being attacked, you had no chance...

Well you are right that quite often trebs would be untouchable when protectd by archers, especially if castles were being built nearby.
But archers/slingers/throwing axemen are a weak replacement for the archers we had in Aoktc. They're not worth producing for the most part.
Fire giant is one possible exception, but those cannot be massed nor expected to always be available.

First of this is not aok, it is a completly different game so stop trying to compare the units of this game to aok. And I think it was great of ES to reduce the range and make things counterable. Did you really like to get killed by a bunch of trebuchets and not able to do anything about them?

its not because a toxote is weaker than a longbowman, you dont have to buy the toxote. they are always a good addition. btw if you find theyre a weak replacement for the aok archers, what do you think about the raiding cavalry compared to the mighty paladin??

Well, AoM is placed in a different time of history, ancient i think, and AoK is put in the Middle Ages, so of course the longbowmen and the paladin would be alot stronger.

well thats what i meant. all units are as useful as they were before. but its good the siege cant fire that far anymore, or isnt that strong, because that was really annoying
