If your computer is slow and the game doesn't perform well in your computer, and if your oppenent has a more powerful computer will he/she have a speed advantage during a multiplayer game, and will their game work in their favor?

I wouldn't worry about it. You didn't mention your pc specs??? I have played most of my AOM against the computer or at LAN parties in MP. Since I have the fastest pc of my group (2.8c p4) I am usually the server. My group has a range of computers from 900 mhz athlons to mine. Everyone has about the same experience overall. I have noticed that the slowest computer in the group sometimes will lag the whole group a little if that makes sense. Late in the game, when there are a lot of units on the screen, it does seem to lag a little, but everyone experiences it, not just the slowest computer. I would just keep your resolution down and turn off footsteps.
