It is just me or does alfheim seem to be a little bit smaller than the other maps? Am I just imagining this or do the RM map have different sizes?

Its all your imagination. The only time the map gets bigger is when you play teams.

Yes and no

Alfheim - 7500 tiles
Anatola - 8000 tiles
Acropolis - 8500 tiles
Ghost Lake - 7500 tiles
Meditaranean - 7500 tiles
Midgard - 12000 tiles
Oasis - 7500 tiles
Savanah - 7500 tiles
Watering Hole - 9000 tiles

The tile count is not always a determination of number of tiles on the map per player but it is usually pretty close.

The tile count should always be based on the number of players. But different maps use a different number of tiles. Land maps, like Alfheim, can usually be smaller since most of the tiles are usable in a game. For maps with lots of water, I increased the size, since you lose so much buildable terrain to the oceans.
