I was just thinking today... why am I paying 75 gold for a building that's made out of wood. Shouldn't it be made of gold and thus have uber stats?
Going along with that... 400 gold for a migdol/tc... and it's just a bunch of stone/wood really :\ Greeks and Norse get wooden buildings for their wood, but the eggies get stone/wooden buildings for their gold, their getting majorly ripped off
Oh, and yes I was really bored.

Egyption buildings are made of mud and stone. you pay gold for this is how the Egyptions payed, they used gold. the Migdol is all gold inside, you pay 400 gold for decoration you can`t see

Look at it this way.... When u buy a house today, u pay with bills or coins - but the house is still made of bricks or wood!
It is only fair that the eggies bought houses with gold. Perhaps the norse had more of a trade economy and thus would trade skin, food, wood, fish or such things for buildings.

Due to the lack of wood in Egypt, many buidings do not cost any wood at all, thus, some of the smaller buildings are free, such as dropsites and houses.
A building made out of gold wouldn't be stronger. Gold is very malable, and can be shaped easily. SO it would probably be weaker. The way the Egyptian civilization worked is by paying people. The main things buildings were made of was sun dried mud bricks. Effectivly free. So you get a free building made of mud. But for some buildings you have to pay gold for the decoration you don't see.
Don't judge those who try and fail. Judge only those who fail to try.

lol, Quintus. I dont think it has to do with decoration. Pipalonias- no Eggie buildings cost wood, and if they didnt cost gold, they would be free. If youre so unhappy about it, E-Mail ES and tell them that you want another resource called Mud-Bricks. Or, since you have a problem with gold, why dont you ask them to change it so that The Eggie Buildings cost food? How about Favor? How about population? Huh? How about this- you have to sacrifice 10 laborers in order to get a lumber camp. Man, sometimes I wonder what you Forum people are thinking. Stop complaining.
I told you I'd be back.

*Pictures the looks of bewilderment on the faces of opposing troops when the building develops dents instead of cracks*
I suppose that would make an interesting conversation topic for the little people visiting that town when they saw that.

The villagers need to get paid also, they have a life to, besides building, and mining. When you are not looking the villagers take a break, and go on vacation.

Egypt is well known for having most of their stuff revolve around gold, even with their pharoahs' burials, much gold and other valuebles, like jewels, were buried with them. So in the game they had their eceonomy revolve around gold.. It might not be fair since gold is a rarer resource, but the fact that many of their buildings are pretty much free (25 wood for a siege shop? 0 wood for a market?), it does balance out somewhat. The egyptian player has to take care to defend their scarce farmland (keep in mind that they WERE mostly desert, so the gold was spent on building elaborate irrigation systems instead of just a few pieces of wood for building fences and such)
Never argue with an idiot, they'll drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience. Preparation can only take you so far... After that you gotta take a few leaps of faith.

Well the eggy buildings are made out of stone for the most part and since they don't have a stone recourse like in AOK gold replaces it. For instance the walls cost gold and towers cost wood and gold.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

i'm glad they broke the stone trend in this game.. it was quite unrealistic, and annoying, that STONE is worth more then and rarer then GOLD.
