Then come AOK. Another popular hit, this game once again ended on the top of the charts. Introducing many original and marvellous elements into the game, it is augmented by its relatively low system requirement. Almost everyone who playes RTS has a copy of either AOE or AOK at home.
But how about AOM? It is still decent, the requirements are a little higher but still not too bad. But it was nothing compared to the last two. Its poor online services and balance problems were frequent targets for complaints, especially the former. And there was nothing truly great about it. True, the graphics are not bad and the God Powers are good. But EE introduced calamities first, and AOM only added a bit of variety. Sales aren't too bad, but many gamers never heard of it. And for the graphics to look great you need to set it to high-resolution, which often causes lag in both SP and MP games, especially for lower-end comps.
So the question is: has ES finally lost its ability to revolutionize the gaming industry? Can it hold its own with other big games such as WC series? Will it be able to churn out, once again, a truly great game? I hope it will.
