The rating on this name is in the range of 1790 so I know that he would know to fish on water maps. What made me look for this is that both times I have played him in advanced it has been with a weird random selection of maps (always land maps) like Alfheim, Savannah, Watering Hole.
The point with the stats is that there are 3 water maps of 7 random ones. Statistically, if you fished every water map you got you should have about 43% fewer ship games than villager games (since you use villagers on both water and land). This fellow has 14%.
Now of course there is nothing wrong with this. I'll say that again. There is nothing wrong with picking land maps to avoid water if that's what you want. However, I will make the following points and open for discussion:
1) Most interesting, and least damning to the individual is the idea I have always held that Poseidon would be unstoppable without water maps. The only reason he doesn't have the highest win% of all civs is water. Period. I firmly believe this.
2) I seem to have a certain amount of respect or appreciation for a rating. When I know a person's rating and I see them post, I tend to value/devalue the post based on the rating. I guess there are situations where this does not hold. Unless this individual is talking about a Poseidon Land Map Strat, they may not have anything good to say.
3) There could be an innocent explanation for that statistical anomaly. I have a sneaking suspicion there isn't. But, whatever.
