I would say that GeForce 2 and ATI Radeon 7000 are both a little too old.
Try a 64 MB GeForce 4 MX TI-4600 for a bargain deal.
Or maybe a 64 MB radeon 8500?
Those are two mid-price range graphics cards that are not really that new but can do enough to get you through most games (except the very latest).
If you have a little more change in your pocket:
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 (64 or 128 MB)
ATI Radeon 9000 (64 or 128 MB)
ATI Radeon 9700 (128 mb, a little on the pricey side though)
I personally think either of those 3 will get you through pretty much every game with good settings on. However, some people are paranoid about not having the best graphics card ever, so I'm going to continue my list, just for them, which I'm sure does not include you :P
And if you are rich and are willing to spend even more:
128 MB ATI Radeon 9800
128 MB NVIDIA FX 5900
I have the 128 MB ATI Radeon 9800, and it works GREAT. Of course its backed with a top of the line machine, but wiht a graphics card like that, you'll run everything smoothly.
And if you have $400 dollars you're willing to spend:
256 MB ATI RADEON 9800 PRO
256 MB NVIDIA GEFORCE FX 5900 ULTRA
I would recommend the Radeon of the two. But those cards aren't worth as much as they are, I wouldn't recommend them. They are the best but they aren't worth it.
Anyway thats just my passion for graphics cards But really, your proble mcould be beyond graphics cards if you want to upgrade your computer. If you're running an 800 MHZ P3 Processor with 128 MB 133 MHZ SD-RAM, then I don't think spending 400 bucks on a graphics card makes any sense.
If you want, give me your pricerange and I can give you the configurations of a new PC [This message has been edited by WND_ZzSpookayzZ (edited 12-05-2003 @ 03:49 PM).]
