Alright, to clarify some things, my monitor is not flat. Also, I am willing to spend enough money to get an Athlon XP 3000+. If I bought a monitor, It would be a Viewsonic 19" Flat screen with 0.25 dpi. Tx to everyone who has resoponded and sry, I thought that this would quallify as general disscusion. I might move this post latter.

One more thing, can anyone tell me if there is a big difference between .25dpi and .24dpi. rx

Well first off what speed processor does your motherboard support? Can you even go higher? Regardless I'd say stay with the processer you have and... well upgrade both monitor and soundcard. You can get a Turtle Beach Santa cruz for ~75 and a flatscreen (CRT) monitor for around (may have to be 17inch) ~200. I don't know how much you have to spend but I do know the higher end viewsonics go for almost $279 so if you buy a slightly cheaper monitor you could get a TBSC as well since they don't cost so much.

If it is a Christmas present I'd go with the monitor as you can get a cheap sound card later. With a 2200+ there shouldn't be much that will be slowed down by your processor, especially since you aren't going up to 1600x1200.

ok, first of all, if youve been around these forums, you will see that I actively participate in many other discussions. Also, keep in mind this is the General Discussion forum. I needed some opinions about this and I believe that this is the place that I would get the most feedback. If you want to talk serious strategy then go to the strategy section. I do agree with you that some post are plain stupid. However, I beleive that this one has a purpose as my performance increase is to help gameplay on AOM. Sry if you find this post usless. Then, I have one thing to say: why did you reply? Why does it matter to you that on the list is my post.

Yes, but would I really see much of a difference in 3D games with the upgrade. I mean, I don't want to shell out 200$ for a couple framerates.
