the Champion95,
You are not seeing the point I was trying to make.
example: SIMPLE example (forget about the fine print - details)
After you start the DM game and pop out your first few villies(ulfs) how long does it take for you to amass an army of say 144 units? How many clicks does it take to make 144 units and send them on their way? Lets count:
Assuming you already have your villies built...we can say 6 or 12 depending on your taste:
step 1 = 12 clicks for placing your 12 rax down in a group
step 2 = 1 click for doubleclick of the rax to select them all
step 3 = 1 click for the hero you wish to make
step 4 = 1 click to click the auto-que button
step 5 = 1 click for doubleclick on one hero to select them all
step 6 = 1 click to right-click on the enemy base
so thats 17 clicks minimum (after you made starting villies)
repeat steps 5 and 6 for each group of heros that pop out and exceed group maximum
So maybe 17 - 22 clicks maximum to send a flood of heros to your enemy base. And like I said in my original reply, if you catch your enemy off guard you can wipe him out with 144 or less units before you ever build your first farm or economy.
Game over you win in 17 - 22 clicks plus however many clicks it took you to make the starting villies you wanted.
EDIT:
Computer froze up so I'm finishing up here:
Anyhow as I was saying, with this very basic and BROAD example you can maybe see what I am getting at. Now, consider Supremacy game. How much effort and time and skill would it take to do the exact same thing? Alot more. You are starting from scratch and you HAVE TO HAVE and economy to do what you did in just 17-22 clicks of my example. Here's the small snippet of what I said in my 1st reply:
Quote:
Supremacy on the otherhand does. You have to start from scratch, build and economy and a military force and possible defense as well - all at the same time and let's not forget scouting and keeping the enemy at a distance. This all takes skill.
Again folks, just mho and nothing I am forcing on you to believe so no need for flames or such, this is a discussion btw. Kids flame, adults discuss.
EDIT ADD:
FoU_Who_Cares,
Strategy? Depends on how you define strategy. Doubleclicking on a hero to select your army or drawing a selection box around them and pointing them at your target is NOT strategy. A monkey can do this.
Strategy is higher thinking and execution of plans to fulfill an agenda. Such as scouting the territory in a quick fashion, remembering in your head all you saw (fog of war) and realize how you can use this particular area as a chokepoint, and then lure the enemy there with a sacrifical army and then wipe them out with a main force. Or planning out your economy all the while having to change it each time an enemy approaches...changing and adapting each minute something arises. That's strategy if you get my meaning.
Select-point-click isn't.
