you may be able to hotkey the guard command using a user.con file. In which case you could use it to tell an ox cart to guard a villager. I think someone may have made a post about it sometime.

Well a quasi way of doing it is to use shift click. I mean, you can select a group of viilies and an oxcart, and shift click on a dozen animals all over the map, and the group will proceed to carry out all the queued commands with the oxcart in tow. But as far as actually programming it do so. Yes, very likely you could if you messed with the code. But of course you couldn't do that on ESO since it would be considered a cheat.

dont shift click cos after every aanimal the vills will drop off the food b4 they start hunting the next one slowingdown your gathering rate. + vills will walk at the slowest rate of the group they are in so ox cart= slow walking time keep the ox seperate and micro for optimum results

Doesnt work for woodcutters.

Lol. I wouldnt say that editing the user.con file is considered programming. You can just map certain functions to certain hotkeys. And obviously you can play on ESO and it isnt considered a cheat.

EDITED

Here is a nice thingie that explains all the cool things you can do with user.con file.

Sorry, I am really stupid and dunno how to make a user.con file myself. Yes, I follow the instruction that simply open up notepad, add the hotkeys, and then "Save As" user.con in the right directory...but I can't choose "All" in the file type menu (No such option to choose) Can someone teach me how to do that? thx a lot

Another way is to select both an ox cart and a ulfsark(or any unit that can guard); then you can assign them to guard a villager. You can then have the ulfsark do whatever and the cart will continue to guard(follow) the villager. This isn't as easy as editing the user.con by adding: map("F3","game","editMode(\"guard\")")

I don't think editing the user.con will work for the original AoM without The Titans.

Yup you can make units like odin's ravens or poseidon's hippocampus to patrol even though they dont have the patrol hotkey.
