They seem to have been left over from some beta where heroes were created right from scratch, not from upgrading a unit.. This shows why valor is so important - convert 3 murms and youll have saved about 450 res! And you can go again in a min or so.. IMO this is a plain example of how the game isnt balanced now.. Kronos and Oranos are good because they have a strong classical rush'n'raid and get Prometheus, leaving a huge hole in Gaia.. Ppl can always argue that crappy heroes are made up by a classical army etc, but first of all this isnt true (Gaia vs Zeus, Loki or other atties is basically a massacre), and secondly I think they could balance it up so that making heroes could be viable, and classical age could be nerfed a little (move katapeltes).. The advantage of making heroes right on the spot (you dont have to guess where and when you want them) is currently in no way matching up to the fact that they are insanely expensive, and are still countered like their mother units. Just looking at hersirs vs murmheroes, you get a bad feeling.. basically the same stats, but murmheroes cost TWICE as much!
