My Dad was born in Egypt and immagrated to California in the 70'sand married my mom in the early 80's later in the years they had me,making me 1/2 Egyptian.....and damn proud -Jonnie
When you update the game, you get the latest patch, which fixes bugs and changes the game balance (unit costs, etc) to make it more fair (mostly important in multiplayer). Also, you need the patch to play online vs other people.

First of all welcome to AOM, the wildest and most craziest forum on the web.(I'm not kidding)
Well done on your victory, I always knew you could do it. (Shiva doubted you)
Updates usually fix balancing problems with civs as Matei stated, also fixes many exploitations (Shades bug). Your unable to play online unless you have all the updates.
Good Luck, I hope your winning streak continues.
Whoever reads what I said above should disregard whatever I said, because I probably don't know what im talking about.

you also don't have to get all of the patches, so don't think you have to go online and get all the patches. when you update the game, it gives you the latest one, and you don't need any on the ones before the current one.

Ha, this is forum is only allowed to go in very constructive and helpful directions. This place is very nicely moderated, and generally can be compared to a trip to the EPCOT center(it's a part of disney) in florida, well done, somewhat unique, and extremely boring.
On the other hand, many other forums have no purpose except for races on post counts with hideous amounts of spamming things like "HORK!!!". While not nearly as nice, they are more interesting, as it's like watching a very shiny and flashy gizmo thingy that has no purpose.
OH, and I finally beat the campaign myself. Dunno why I put it off so long. Must be all the time I spend reading things here. Very good ending. Mass giants in vanilla are a pain to deal with.
