When I ignore the fear of losing by not caring, and just looking to have fun always seems to get me to play my best.
If you start losing and are getting annoyed, don't exactly quit right then. It's probably better to eat something and watch the recs of your last games and try to find exactly the things you did wrong.(basically watch them slowly and look at your own play)
I got mad the other night for what seemed an unfair loss. I thought my preformance was good, yet I was gettting beat by less experienced players. Instead of just smashing my keyboard off my desk and the usual, I watched the recs and found out why I did so badly. I found out that did a poor job of managing my ques and building enough buildings. One dock had up to 5 arrow boats qued up! On top of that, I blantantly ignored many chances to take tc's and failed to take the offensive when I should.
So, I watched it, remembered these things, then I go back and play another game and beat a Thor player with one of the best ulf rushes I have ever managed to do, and ended played for the rest of the night. Where is my rating now? about 5 points higher than usual. It doesn't matter much, it just helps you find games with equal skilled players so you can have fun...and if you have fun, you will gradually get better too...
