Topic Subject:Chaos and Traitor?????

Hey Guys,

I was just hoping that someone would know why when you chaos or traitor a unit, it looses all it's upgrades???? It's because of this that Chaos and Traitor aren't great powers, and Lampades special isn't fantastic either.

Why didn't ES just make the unit change teams, then it would keep all it's upgrades, instead of making it reborn? I know it's possible, because remember AoE and AoE2! When ever a unit was converted, it retained it's upgrade, and not only that, but it was known as a converted unit, and therefore any futhur upgrades you did did not effect it.

If AoE 1 & 2 can do that, and they are so much older and more primative than AoM, why would they go backward in programming in AoM??? It seems illogical! Obviously it's easier to programme it so that the old unit vanishes and a new unit appears, but since they already had a technique of converting units WITHOUT loss of upgrades, why wouldn't they use it for the supposedly more modern AoM? Bit sus, sure it would mean a little more work, but wouldn't it mean a better quality game? And it's not like they had no idea how to do it, or it was something new, for goodness sake, they've been able to do it since AoE!

I believe that the triggers in AOM work differently. Upgrades apply only to the units you actually have.

well as i figure it the reason for this maybe that that there are mythological upgrades aswell. So it might look wrong if a god aids & blesses a traitor.Hence ES might have decided to completely remove its upgrades.

A chaosed unit becomes a mother nature unit. Therefore has all the upgrades mother nature has which i think is none.
If you traitor a unit it gains all the upgrades you have for that unit, e.g. traitor a collosus and have mythic rejuvination and it will rejuvinate. It will however lose both gold and silver upgrades.

Ahh yes, the old 'why does a Chaosed unit lose all upgrades?'
I always thought the answer was rather obvious, let's look at four scenarios:

Un-upgraded Chaosed Units:

If they attack you, then that's not great, but hey! They've lost their upgrades.

If they attack you enemy, then that's good.

Fully upgraded Chaosed units:

If they attacked the enemy, that'd be brilliant.

If they attacked you, the GP would be wasted.

So, as I pointed out, if Chaosed units kept their upgrades, then there would be a possiblity that all units would still attack you. This, I feel is the reason ES removed all upgrades.

If they attacked you, the GP would be wasted.

I don't think that's a major reason. Some GPs must be used carefully to be effective, and this one is part of that group. It's up to you to launch chaos on units well placed that will mostly attack your ennemies.

The loss of upgrades is only related to a technical reason, I think.
