I am kind of new to the gaming world I work for Xseed and got to play a little bit of a new game called Wild Arms 4 before it comes out next month. I have never played any other Wild Arms but liked how the new HEX battle system works. Usually RPG's can be too slooow but I do like how WA4 plays more like an action game than a RPG. What is the difference between Strategy and Role Playing games? I am starting to really get into gaming but I am a newbie and the strategy games look awesome too. Thanks!

I'm not a genius, but I'm gonna try to answer this. An RPG is a game where your whole game is centered around afew characters and mainly their life story. A strategy is a game with "competitions" among people, to see who is the better. It,as the name says, is about out-strategizing your opponent so that you can predict their moves and play against their weaknesses.
Basically: An RPG is about afew people going through their life. A strategy is about controlling large groups and building up your forces (in war-like games) then predicting your opponent and demolishing them through the weakness.

I agree with riku_necross. The only thing I can add is that RPG = Role playing games.

RPG= Let's you get to know the characters, see the story through their eyes, basically it is about a few characters doing a quest/objective. You really get to know the characters.
Strategy= You are the general. They are basically just mass battle simulators.

The two genres are RTS (Real Time Strategy) and RPG (Role Playing Game). However, in Warcraft 3 the company Blizzard tried to combine the two genres, creating a RPS (Role Playing Strategy) game in which you slay computer-conducted monsters while still having the strategical elements of a RTS game. The outcome sucks, IMHO, but many others like it.
Darkness is a state of mind Valor is the contempt of Death and Pain. (Tacitus) Problems worthy of attack prove their worth by hitting back. (Piet Hein)
