i almost never use trade caravans. but i was wondering how many i should have and at what point in the game i should get them? also, are they better than dwarves or citizens on gold?

I play mostly Isis and I often rely on the trade caravans late in the game. depending on how things go, i'll have somewhere between 10 and 20. Usually they're long enough to get me around 100 gold for each one.

I frequently rely on market rade for my gold income starting in mid heroic. It allows you to have less villies on gold(saving your protected mines for emergencies) and if you place your trade route well it is easier to defend from raids. In general I only make enough caravans to create a constant loop. This is usually around 15 caravans. I often find myself with a gold surplus after my trade route is established.

also, does anyone know how fast citizens gather resources? is it 3 times faster or 2.5 times faster?

i start a market the second i reach heroic. send then to the farest tc and put it on auto que. i play odin so i know im going to rag. i will have enough gold to buy food and wood. the upgrades in the market are well worth it.

well teh only exception mayb would be a 4v4 or a FFA where u have 8+ TC, and u can have almost as much caravans as villies.
