On a wierd Afheim map, 2v2, I was Isis, my friend and me were getting hammered pretty bad, I knew it was only a certain amount of time that I could hold out, so I got a roc and ran with w/e I could fit in it (mostly villies, two pets, a pharoah). I dropped them onto a cliff a flew back to pick up the survivors that were hiding in the back of my base, which was being destroyed. I dropped them off on a different cliff. Then I flew the thing back again to pick up the rest and some of my friend's units. On the cliff I rebuilt all my houses, made a monument, a temple, market, and a storehouse, granery, and mining camp to drop off the resources my villies were holding and healed up my roc. Then I started building a wonder!
The enemies were both norse, and I chose a part of the plateau that was far from the edges. Awsome enough, when one of them came to siege down the wonder with ballistas, he couldn't reach it! All he got was a couple of the junk buildings. I loaded up my roc with my pharoah, pets and catapults, and did that roc drop stuff. I was able to damage alot of stuff and be generally annoying. When he started building a TC near the cliff, I put my siege on the cliff and was close enough to prevent it getting built. When he brought ballistas to take down my pets (24 range) and catapults(2), I just retreat them whenever they got too much damage and healed them right up with my priest and pharoah and brought them back at full health. No matter how hard the enemy tried, even with rag heros, they couldn't get the tc up. Eventually the wonder was completed and they resigned at about 1 hour.
Now that I think of it, if they made more ballistas instead of resigning during that 10 minute countdown period they might have been able to put up that tc. Never-the-less that was the funniest win I have ever gotten. I've tried this in games since that, but I could never find another cliff large enough to put a wonder out of siege range.
I have more funny games to share, but I'll post those next time. I think this post will live for a while, it has a future ahead of it.
