I know how to counter slingers, spears, elephants, camels, etc, but how do you counter axes? They seem to counter themselves but then you just negate their bonus, and breaking even is not countering. Nothing i can think of counters counter- infantry. So, how do you counter axemen as an egyptian player vs an egyptian player?

I believe Slingers get a bonus vs Axeman. And just look at the axeman's 5% pierce armour, easy pickings.
Anything that isn't infantry basically counters it.

Out of Egypt's 6 units, you have a good choice:
Spearmen: No. Slingers: Yes - slingers destroy Axemen (especially with Sekhmet's "Slings of the Sun" Bonus [+30% Slinger Damage vs Infantry]) Axemen: Yes - Even fight, obviously. Chariot Archers: Yes - chariots are the best unit Egypt has vs. Axemen. Elephants: Yes - kill Axemen easily because of their high HP and Axemens' poor attack Camels: Yes - Again, Axemen are only good vs. Infantry, so Camels (Cavalry) will beat them cost and pop wise.

In general in egypt vs egypt... I think it's better to mass slingers and then go heroic and grab camels. (Especially with Ptah's techs)
You can't really counter slings with spears in practice... when there massed that is... That's just my in game experience.
