if you want to get good at the game, I would not recommend atlanteans as a starting civ. they are very easy to play, but once you want to start playing another civ, you pretty much have to go over another learning curve because eco management of the other civs is much harder. if you start with norse, greek, or eggy, then once you get good and want to learn another, it won't take long for you to adapt.
I would recommend norse if you're an agressive player, eggy if you're defensive, and greeks if you're a bit of both. alot of newbies like to start with hades because of the setinels, or odin because of the healing ability, and set because of the animals, (many also choose gaia because of the trees and lush, and kronos because of the krush, but like I said, you should get a bit better at the game before playing atlanteans)
when I first started I played zeus for a few days, then switched between odin and gaia, after about 2 weeks, i learned the game basics(build orders, rush, turtle, etc) and switched to thor because the #1 at the time, Ourk, played thor.
my computer is finally working again
