I'm not sure I like the day/night transition idea. Supposedly "years" are going by as you play the game (i.e. keep the wonder alive for x number of years to win)... not days. Would you have the sun rise every 50 years or something? Maybe I'm being too picky but for realism I just don't think it makes sense.
Tactically, it would be cool IF gameplay was affected by light, as there have been many wars influenced greatly by attacks at night or at dawn, but if units are not going to sleep like in real life and ES does not want to make light level affect the gameplay, why bother implementing a transition feature?
