I've gotten to about 1685 with a lame ra villager / sphinx rush. It's playable, but if played well, but overly complicated. Let me explain,
Drop down 2 monuments.
Play Ra, get rhino skin early, oblisk scout with your preist, empower with your pharoh.
Look for a norse forward base, then take 2/3 of your villagers and kill the temple and houses. (NORSE CAN'T defend against this... .but they don't have to)
You can then just mine gold and wood where the norse player was putting up his forward after u destroy it, (this is somewhat safe)... or just walk back to your base. (this is usually even... since the vill walk time negates any advantage destroying your opponents forward base creates)
BUT, it can often throw a lot of players right off there game.
Or you can go classical and take all of your villagers except 3 for food and rush his base and make sphinx almost non stop. You can even try messing around with stuff like building towers inside of your opponents base and fighting around it with your villagers. (Not recommended but I've had fun messing with this)
You attack, then back off, heal your villagers with your pharoh and continue. It's loads of fun, I don't think
rushing is smart with Egypt, but your going to do it, you might as well try this. It's a lot of fun, and once you've perfected it, I think it's as strong as any Egypt rush.
It seems that most people seem to get into a groove, they expect to see the same thing from there opponents -- game after game, stuff like this has an interesting surprise factor, which breaths new life into an old game.
HINT --- if it doesn't work then resign by the 10:00 min mark.
