I think that there should be more diplomacy between players. Instead of just being enemy, nuetral, or allied, and the occasional offer by the computer player to be your friend, there should be some more complex interactions than in AoK or AoE. If you've ever played Civilization or Lords of Magic, those games are much better at negotiations. I think you should be able to give units snd buildings as well as resourses. You should also be able to make an offer, like I'll give you 5000 gold and then you have to be my ally. And then the computer accepts of rejects the offer.

Giving units would be a very good idea...

I never disliked that there're so little diplomacy possibilities, but a bit more would really be good!
I'd also like giving units and buildings, but I think that giving units wouldn't work, 'cause AoM's units of the different civs are too different, and with units of a foreighn civ your army would become too strong maybe!

Trading/tributing units would be cool, but then the Greeks with 3 Anubites and 2 Frost giants could be battling Egyptians with 2 hydras and 3 fire giants. The civs would no longer be as unique as before.

Yeah, but I was showing that it would make the game less unique, but you showed it would create balance issues. But yes, you did post it first.

I've always wanted the age games to have more focus on shifting alliances and trading--not that i want any less focus on fighting.

They could make it not only so that you could trade more stuff, like units, but also so that enemies would remember past injustices or cheats and not be as willing to give u treaties.

Also, they could make it so that u couldn't tribute MUs, only normal units, like swordsmen.

Computer players with a better grasp of diplomacy would be nice, but I honestly don't think I'd be making use of it very often. If I'm practicing a strat or just goofing around against some CPs, I usually assign them a team and that's that.

If you're looking for a shimo style game, there's no substitute for real people imo.
