Well. I just watched it.
I would have placed my bets on you winning that map at least 5 times. Let me start from the beginning. This match was long, and I played it on "fast," so I'm sure I missed a lot.
-You never cast prosperity.
-Chicken is the ORIGINAL white meat!
Just a tip, you'll want to eat those first instead of your zebra on Oasis. Plus, you attacked the zebras with too few villagers, thus they died far from your granary making your food gather rate much lower than it could have been. Chickens don't run, and if you went there first, you would have gathered food faster at the start.
-The relic "Odin's Spear" is enough to give a Zeus player an orgasm.
You should have made getting it a top priority at the start. It turns out you didn't need to because he didn't use hoplites, but if you advance to the higher levels you certainly will want to get it first. Don't allow Zeus players anything that makes their Hoplites even more powerful.
-Scouting with Sphinx.
This was OK, but you used waypoints. Waypoints are OK for scouting, so long as you're paying attention. You passed directly by 13 of his villagers gathering berries, his only food income. If you attacked him then with your sphinx, you would have put yourself in a position to win. He had no hero. He may have bolted your sphinx, sure, but then your Titan may have won in the Titan vrs Titan fight at the end of the game. If he didn't bolt it, you would have killed the majority of those villagers. As it is, your sphinx met an early demise anyway, after he ran under the opponents TC fire and was wounded fairly badly.
-First attack at his second TC.
You attacked with spearman and axemen, he had almost no military at all. You almost took his TC (although at great cost to you). If you had copper shields, you would have taken his TC, and justified the loss of all your military forces. You then would have been on the fast track to winning, as he couldn't afford to rebuild a TC at this point.
-Using waypoints for your barracks would help.
When you put your spearmen, axemen, and slingers on auto-que, they simply massed around the barracks, which was right next to a farm. This made it harder for you to select them without grabbing villagers.
-Use military groups (ctl+1, ctrl+2, etc)
You then proceeded to double-click on each of the three units, and sent them into battle as a divided force. Your axemen and spearmen should have been mixed into military group 1, your slingers and priests in group 2. As it is, you more or less wasted your axemen by sending them to attack his relatively undefended Town Center. If all your forces attacked at once, you probably could have won the game right there by destroying his second TC.
-As far as Micro goes...
You used your slingers to attack his town center; they didn't really help. You should have attacked his 2 toxotes with them, and then attacked the villager that was building the tower.
-You had 52 favor stockpiled by the time you used Ancestors + Eclipse. Next time, build some more scorpion men and/or sphinxes. Use those myth units, and ancestors, to attack the town center. Instead, you used your scorpion man and Ancestors to attack his army, which had three Zeus heroes. Chances are he upgraded them with Olympian Parentage, giving them a considerable hit-point boost.
-Also, you should put up at least one Migdol right after you get heroic. Those Chariot Archers would have really helped against the enemy's heroes.
-You could have anticipated that he was going to rely on myth units when he attacked you with Manticores- he had almost no gold (57 or so when advancing to Heroic, and only 5 on gold).
-Raid gold.
I'm sure you realize this by now, but you should have sent your chariot archers to raid his gold (raid meaning run when his military gets there) instead of sending your troops against his TC, which he just rebuilt quite easily. You never had enough troops to really hold onto his town center. You only had safe control over it for roughly 3 minutes, and he soon retook it.
-He cast Underworld Passage defensively, to link his town centers up.
This should have been your biggest tip that you weren't going to get raided, or attacked, although it was pretty apparent already. Once he did this, you should have _thought_ about using a Titan the second you got to Mythic. You already had upgraded most of your armory and had Heavy units, he did not. You had a nice resource advantage on him.
-Around this time in Heroic, he had just got a trade route going. His caravans were raking in 117 gold or so.
-Once you got mythic, you cast meteors a little too close to your army.
It killed either a 5th or 4th of your own forces. You probably should have went over to his first TC. Since he had only one temple, which Meteors usually destroy, this would have seriously hampered his myth unit production and got rid of his two relics (one of which was the Tower of Sestus, which he seemed to be using to his advantage). He was also using that temple to heal his myth units, thanks to Apollo and his healing temples.
-You used roughly 7 elephants and 12 Chariot Archers to attack his TC in the back. There was no way you could have held onto it in that position.
If you used siege towers instead of elephants, the TC would have went down much faster, and your chariot archers probably would have lived. You would have saved more resources which could have been used to guard the siege towers with barracks units. You might have stood a chance of holding that position then, but as it was done, he simply rebuild it with minimal resource loses.
-You stopped using barracks units, even after you upgraded them to heavy. This was a mistake; you should use them for canon fodder because they're so cheap. They would have done wonders when you were attacking his base in Mythic. I'm not saying this guy had poor micro skills, but you made it awfully easy for him to turn your elephants to stone when you attacked his base with 5 elephants and 2 chariot archers. If you had barracks units in there, I have a feeling he wouldn't have gotten most of your elephants.
-You had too many idle villagers. First, you had it after you hunted the zebra. You were busy building houses and your monument, and forgot about them. They should have moved on to the chickens ASAP, with no downtime.
Then you had idle villagers after you built your Migdols and Siege Workshops (two separate instances). You might want to consider making the spacebar an "idle villager" hotkey. Then you will remember to hit it.
-Once you knocked down his Town Center closest to you, you should have built it in right away. You could have safely done so at the 33:15 mark, and it would have stood for much longer than it ended up standing. Also, you built two Migdols right after that. By this time, he had myrmidons and Medusae, and it would have been smarter to build some barracks first, and then the Migdols. You should have put the Migdols on auto-que CA. Believe me, to a Zeus player that relies on myrmidons, nothing is more frustrating than chariot archers and fanatics.-Frustration and giving up.
I could tell you were really getting upset, when you chased his Medusae into his base with your camels and priests, all of which died without wounding the Medusae. You should have kept them on defense by your new TC.
Also, you gave up after you built a Titan, and didn't build anymore troops. Even if your Titan beat his, he would have still won with his invasion force of myrmidons and Towers. You should have used chariot archers and axemen to repel those forces.
You had well over 1,500 of each resource, and many idle villagers before he even invaded your base. If you successfully repelled his invasion force, you could have considered a wonder.
Also, priests can destroy a Titan very well. If he didn't have a bolt (due to that Sphinx in the beginning), you would have had an advantage over him. Even with the bolt, his Titan was almost dead too. 15 priests would have wasted it quite fast. It's not like building 15 priests would be useless, either, since he relied so heavily on his Medusae Matriarchs and Manticores.
I hope you take this as constructive criticism; I'm not trying to be mean . Just trying to give you some tips that should take you over the 1600-1620 level.
