Have any of you noticed a glitch on the ESO servers lately? When I go to quick setup there is just an "E" there. None of the normal writing. This is on The Titans. I don't know about normal AoM. Can someone check normal AoM?
Does anybody know what it used to say there?

Hey your right! (Glitches on ESO are no new thing lol!).

perhaps theyre going to put something new there... (dare i say it)
This must be some new guessing game ES planned. Everyday a new letter is added. Guess the entire sequence and you have the chance to get Halo Wars at 1% off!!!!

I doubt it. If it was something new it would be:
ESO is shutting down, our $14 a month server is too expensive.
P.S Whippy the site isn't working for me?

I wonder if this could be used as an excuse to get ESO to update the servers. Or do some other kind of maintainence.

Just to tell you i'm not joking about this.
Some really good hacker is trying to update the game version, and make everyone download a custom patch.
ESO just dosen't care anymore. I wonder if each gave them a dollar(3000 all together) would they even think about uping anything.

Since nobody here appears to have noticed: That "E" stands in the field for the "Message of the Day". For some reason, ES has apparently decided to set their message of the day to "E". Perhaps they are trying to lower the load on their servers from relaying the whole message to everyone that logs in. *Sarcasm alert. That message is only a few bytes and will never play a role performance-wise, not even on a 56k modem connection*
I do not believe in a hacker. If a hacker managed to modify ES' message of the day, he would place something cooler in its stead (most likely something quite awkward for ES).

^^ Bows down to the King of China.
Anyway, yeah I have noticed that too. Are any of you experiencing a problem with the stats server, because maybe it stands for error. If not, and Es or a hacker is really trying to to something with AoM and Titans, or even just Titans, I might have to go running down my street screaming "Apocalypse". If you'll excuse me.

Lautan lied
lol, let's keep thinking up crazy theories. I say ES is shutting down ESO bit by bit. They started with the MoTD. Next, it'll be the ratings listings. Next, it'll be Alfheim. Yes, Alfheim will be the first to go.

I have the english version of The Titans, but we are from Spain and some friends have the Spanish version. Today when they logged in to ESO1, a message appeared telling us ESO1 servers will be offline this 30/01/2007 for aprox. 2 hours.
In my english version just apprear an "E" in the "message of the day section".
Crazy stories about hackers or just another ES blunder?

Go with the optimistic attitude. ES BLUNDER! They are coming back to us! They are trying to update!
Or mabye trying to take the AoM servers down so they can put AoE3 servers up.
"We will be updating the servers... To AoE3."

Quoted from WNxMythos:

Your idea does not work because this sort of companies will not grant the necessary copyrights to install a server of your own. There used to be "free" Starcraft servers all over the world. Eventually, Blizzard began sueing them all for using copyrighted material. Don't ask me exactly what that material could have been, as the programmers of these servers simply reverse-engineered the data transfer to the original servers, something completely legal which is the basis of the Linux operating system. In other words, if reverse-engineering could be stopped by lawsuit, Linux would have been gone long ago. Either way, Blizzard succeeded, and all free Starcraft servers in the world were shut down.
ES may not care for their AoM servers anymore, but I am confident they will not tolerate someone else doing better in their stead. They want people to move on to AoE3 after all, not continue to play a game that pours no more money into their coffers.
