I would say so, unless your opponent is really set on it, at which point you should try to keep forcing him to waste resources on the water at a minor loss to yourself. For example one catapult can really cause some trouble.

There is some hunting/herding and you can farm. Just know that crossing the bridges between the rivers can make you vulnerable to ship fire.

Just take it if you can, fight him for it. It is worth fighting, but not worth losing the game for it.

its worth fighting the fish on any water map, unless you are ra or isis.

If you do that, you could then take over the water and move your citizens around for a better economy. Just try the water, if you can't do it, cut your losses and pull out.

Wall off the gaps in the water and use archers/ catapults to take out the docks on the other side. He has wasted pop floating in the water, and if he makes a new dock- guess what- you destroy that from the safety of your wall too.
his food econ is messed and his pop too.

I never fight for fish on highland but i always have to riot with walls.

just a minute, i got a great oasis idea

I'd always try to win at least one of the little oceans on highland, because fishing = eco there = good! Also, seige ships can easily screw you up later, so go for the sea if it's going to have strategic significance later. On highland, there, water is a priority, but not not as much as say medit. The interesting thing is that the water in the middle, so it can come into play, unlike anatolia, where if you loose sea, you're basically safe on land. Now, playing Atty on semi-water is super sux, but I'd still go water, just because fishing is a big yes You might be able to outboom the Eggy, but by booming and not attacking water, you're letting the Eggy boom as well! Eggy Boom > Gaia Boom IMO.

Get water, fight for it -> win at least one river -> try to disrupt him on his other river, but don't go all out on it would be my advice. Remember, sometimes an Eggy player can use water as a distraction while he booms at home, so don't let him out boom you

"Why not do the exciting thing and sit back, boom to a rag and use flaming weapons? - Who would have thought a Thor player could show this level of innovation?"
-Vagabond Tom.

- If you win some of the water, normally that means all.
- If you have won the water, that means he's lost fishing boats.
- Which means you gained them.

Although it is possible to re-establish a dock, it ain't easy.

If you take the water, leave a ship or two and have them use the patrol command to make sure no other docks appear.

I would build on it if you have extra wood as your opponent is probably thinking the same thing (not worth it)
