I was playing a possy against a 1750+ Zeus.(he started a new account and was 16- something or other at the time.) the game went on for a bit with him basically getting the first rush in and consistantly raiding with the horsemen and centeurs. i was able to counter it with prodomouses for a bit even a while after he raided my gold mine and killed most of my miners but i lost and i looked at the replay and i watch parts of it like his early setup and his raids and stuff. but after the early set-up and his advance his camera view was on the same spot for a long periods of time and he still was raid my town and retreating without moving his camera posotion.does anyone here have an idea of how he might have done this?

*Ill post the replay as soon as i find out how :/

Recorded games only record the recorder who's recording the recorded game.
Makes sense?
That's a record for saying record/recorded.
Somebody needs to record this...

This might have confused you if you have ever watched recorded games from other players,

they're right, it only records the screen movement of the person who recorded it.

It is not correct, not always at least. Normally, the camera view of both players is recorded. However, the camera position of the opposing player is updated far less frequently, which is why it is pretty useless as you cannot follow his screen movements anyway when you watch the replay. But up to now I have not seen any replay in which there are no camera position updates at all. Chances are that your or his internet connection or computer were very slow, so that the game regarded the camera position as least priority and did not relay it.

EDIT: Aww, shoulda known better than to argue with you DaP. *cries*

Basically, every now and then it'll move randomly, indicating movement from the player, but most of the time it focuses in on new building foundations, as I suspected.

What DeathAndPain said is incorrect.

The recorded game that is generated only saves your screen movements. The other players won't store that information and the AoM Recording System will only guess where is camera is at.

The camera will focus automatically on new buildings and waypoints.

The reason why you see his camera 'locked' in one location for a while is because he is not building anything, he is attacking and microing his army.

The only way to see what he did is to ask him for the recorded game, and you will see that he doesn't know how you moved your camera either.

If only there was a way to merge the two files. *dreams*.
I hope this helps.

Oh, well if it includes waypoints, then I was probably right - the flutter of movement I saw may well have been sheep scouting...
