Quoted from AoMH news page:

A plague of swarming insects also appears to be destroying both farms and villagers around the Greek town,

I don't believe the dead villagers in the screenshot died because of the locust. The locust ruined all the farms in a radius, but only 2 of the villagers died, and it's much more logical they were killed by the arrows of the Egyptian chariot archers or scorpioneers.

BTW, do you want locust to turn grassland into desert?

NOTE: I'm talking about Locust in AoM, not real world locust that causes deaths by destroying essential crops

You could be right, LK. All it says about the locusts in the German magazine article is:

...Um die gegnerische Nahrungsproduktion zu sabotieren, hetzen Sie dagegen einen Heuschreckenschwarm los...

I haven't seen it translated yet, so here's my own attempt:

...On the other hand, to sabotage your opponent's food production, you unleash a swarm of locusts...

its a nice effect, but i think thats all it should be , a effect
you can still build farms there, only the looks are changed

It's like watching a flock of clown-like apes trying to navigate a ship, even though the ship has in fact been stranded on some kind of reef for about 7 years and none of the apes have noticed it yet. -Drahnier on OD moderation.

Agreed

Locusts are definitely just farm-killers. Anything more than that is just silly. (Historically incorrect too, Read Moses story from the bible 7:14 to 12:30)

The "grassland to desert/dirt" is just a graphical effect.
Do you think the locust should kill trees also?

I read the biblical stories many times (once a year, in fact ). I believe the locust in the bible destroyed mainly farms because that's the way the Egyptians were damaged the most.

Locust is just a grasshopper (that can fly long distances in a huge swarm), and grasshoppers don't eat nothing but plants. Locust still threatens farms today, but it effects less due to the use of pesticides.

This locust plague thing i would find very annoying. Farming is a pain as is.

God Bless America.

LOL, ya man eating locusts may be a bit far fetched. I was looking for arrows near the villes (in the ground, like AOK) but didn't see any so made the assumption.

Notice the arrows carry player colour via their feathers? Nice touch eh?

I guess we didn't see arrows near the villies, because only the arrows that didn't hit stay of the ground, and the villies are an easy target .

The blue arrows came from the town center probably .
