Ra strategy.
First of all I want you to know know that I only have limited online experience, as I played like 20 games ( on IP connection because I cannot play on ESO,you will probably know the reason ). I really know that the best way to improve is to play 1 versus 1 on ESO but I dont have choices. I mostly play against the computer AI at Hard level, and occasionally on Titan level because 60% of the time I lose there.
A while ago I asked you guys for help in choosing my Major God between Zeus, Hades or Ra...well I decided that Ra is my style because of some reasons:
1. I am a defensive player, more like a turtler. I like to boom hard and I am very bad with Norse that rush all the time. I like to get an excellent economy because I will have no problem with upgrades ( my favorite thing about this game ). I ussually never run out of resources after 11:00 minutes.
2. I love farming. Yes, I know that farming is one of the slowest source of food, and hunting is the fastest one. I often start farming in Archaic Age and I will explain later why. I am addicted to them in other words, because I like stability.
3. Ra’s incredible empowering. That means I don’t have to rush about economic upgrades, like getting Gold and Wood upgrades too early.
4. Ra’s Camels. Those are huge; their speed in Mythic Age is incredible, especially if you find the speed relic.
Ok…now I will tell you how I play the game with Ra. It may also help some guys who are new to the game ( like I would be a pro xDD )
Archaic Age:
I start with 2 Villagers, 1 Priest and one Pharaoh. I immediately get the two villagers and the Pharaoh and build a Granary near the fastest source of food AND queue villagers on the Town Center, as I don’t want it idle by all means possible. Then I order the Priest to build a few Obelisks ( a maximum of 4 usually, place them near Gold Mines ).
Then I do the following things with the villagers:
1.The first 4 or 5 are going to food, along with the other 2 I got.
2.The following 5 or 6 are going to Gold. Use the first on this series along with the Priest to build the Gold Camp and let him to empower it.
3.Next villager, and maybe one more is / are going to build a Monument near your Town Center AND Houses around it ( I do it to protect the monument and because it looks good, lol ). But after the Monument building is over I build a Temple, and THEN the villagers are going to finish the houses. When they do that set them on wood ( that in transition to Classical Age ).
4.Next villagers 4 or 5 are going to build Farms. Yeah you heard right, Farms, because I am going to use my God Power Rain right before I research Classical Age. When these 4/5 Villagers finish the Farms, progressively start to build Farms with the Villagers on Hunting until there is no one left on that source of Food.
5.Use my God Power, Rain, right after I finished all the Farms. I also make sure my Pharaoh is empowering the Granary.
This strategy / build order worked for me in most online games I played and in all games against the computer. After I cast Rain I will have all the Food I need in Classical Age and my opponent will get no bonus because of this, as he won’t start farming in Archaic Age ( as far as I know, no one does that except me ). In transition to next Age I research Pickaxe for more Gold, but that is not always done because the Priest I have is enough.
Minor God Path:
Bast:
God Power: Eclipse Your Myth Units get +50% ATK power, half recharge time, +20% speed, Monuments gather Favor 30% faster meanwhile.
Myth Unit: Sphinx
Mythic Techs:
1. Adze of Wepawet: Villagers gather Wood 10% faster and knock down trees 500% faster.
2. Sacred Cats: Villagers gather food from farms 10% faster.
3. Criosphinx: Sphinx hitpoints increased by 50, Sphinx hack attack increased by 20%, Sphinx crush attack increased by 50%.
4. Hieracosphinx: Sphinx speed increased by 20%, Sphinx hack attack increased by 20%, Sphinx crush attack increased by 50%.
I go with Bast 90% the time because she is just what I need: Sacred Cats are going to make my villagers work faster that other civilisation's villagers (except Norse with Skadi, but that tech is really expensive ), and it's cost isn't too much because it's only Gold and Favor, resources I should have until now. The Sphinx is my favorite Myth Unit in the game ( well, after Chimera and Collossus ) because it's cheap, costing only Food and Favor, and because of the two upgrades it has, two good upgrades. The God Power Eclipse is one of the most versatile in the game in my oppinion because you can use it in numerous ways: you can overpower your Titan when fighting another Titan, you can make uber Myth Units, or you can protect yourself from nasty God Powers like Meteor, Tornado, Eartquake, etc. when you build your Titan Gate. Adze of Wepawet is less important in my strategy because the only place where I will use Wood is Midgol Stronghold ( for a few Cariots ) and for the economic upgrades.
Once I advance to Classical Age I will do the following things ( not in all situations, because I don't follow a build order, but my strategy is the same in most games ):
1. Queue Villagers at my Town Center and put them on Farms, then on Gold. After I have like 19 / 20 villagers on Food, 20 on Gold I start building things like Armory, more Houses if I run out of Population slots and wall my base. I upgrade the walls and build 2/3 Towers at the main chokepoints. If I play a Team Game on an open Map like Megalopolis I wall all our base and I let them attack or defend until I finish shaping the city ( that happens in late Classical / Heroic Age ).
2. Put 7/8 villagers on Wood because from now on I will need it for Chariots, Tower upgrades, Economic upgrades.
3. I build 1 or 2 Monuments for my Favor needs and for Migdols in Heroic Age.
In the middle of this age usually the enemy appears and I train a couple of Sphinxes ( 2 or 3 ), 2 Priests for heling and for Atlantean and Norse Myth Units. After that I usually begin to build a few Barracks in from on my Town Center and Farms, to protect them incase my opponent manages to pass the walls ( very few times ). I don't train that many troops because Towers do their job / allies help me ( I rely on the second option because I play 70% Team games ).
Once I have a good economy and my Armoury is ready I click the Advance button.
Minor God Path:
Hathor:
God Power: Locust Swarm: Target enemy villagers/farms/fishing ships, lasts 20 seconds (20 hack, +100% vs farms)
Myth Unit: Petschutos and Roc
Mythic Techs:
1. Sun Dried Mud Brick: Building hitpoints increased by 10%, Building gold cost decreased 15%.
2. Crocodopolis: Petsuchos +4 range and line of sight.
3. Medjay: Mercenary and mercenary cavalry last 30 seconds longer.
Most of the times I go with Hathor because she is an amazing god and I find all her techs useful. Her God Power Locust Swarm is also very versatile and I use it in many ways like destroying Farms and villagers at his Town Centre, cast that plague on a full of villagers Gold Mine ( especially when facing Egyptians, or stop the contruction of a Titan Gate. Her Myth Unit, Petchutos, is the best Heroic Age myth unit after Battle Boar in my oppinion, and if I research Crocodopolis too it's probably better than a Tower behind the walls. It can also used as a very good support for your army behind units like Elephants or Camels ( not very often with these ). But I don't use them in large number because I either forget about them either need resoures for more important things like Migdol Strongholds. My favorite use of this unit is placing them with Roc on the top of the Alfheim hills ( it's just epic ). The other Myth Unit, Roc has an extremely strategic role in the game because I can move slow units like Catapults or Priests and Pharaoh when fighting a Titan ( If he gets to summon one ), Elephants or Son of Osiris ( if he's in danger in the middle of a battle ).
Sekhmet is a more aggressive god, not for my taste, unless Iplan to use alot of Siege units.
Her Sun Dried Bricks tech is extremely useful because I plan to build alot of Migdols in Heroic Age and Mythic Age. It also strenghtens my buildings like walls. Medjay is extremely useful when I get a forward base near my opponent and because when Heroic Age is about to finish I have ALOT of Gold I can affor queueing them and attack his base along with my other troops.
When I hit this age I make some villagers ( about 10 / 15 ) and put them on Gold and a few on Food. I also make 3-4 villagers and I start building Migdols, a Forward base and Tower to defend my allies. I research some Armory upgrades and Migdol's ones ( the most important ones are for Camelry ).
I get the Economic upgrades and research Fortified Wall and Tower's upgrade.
I often find myself still concentrating more on Economy and Upgrades and less on Military things. But I guess that's my style as I like fully upgraded soldiers. I know Heroic Age should be the most important age of Ra but I find Mythic Age better for fighting.
Minor God Path:
Osiris:
God Power: Son of Osiris: Transform pharoah into super empowering, lightning wielding demi-god. If cast on new kingdom pharaoh, another pharaoh will respawn.
Myth Unit: Mummy
Mythic Techs:
Funeral Barge: Kebenits gain +200% damage vs arrow ships.
New Kingdom: Gives a respawning second pharaoh (+700% vs myth, 3.6 speed).
Atef Crown: Mummy pierce attack increased by 40%, Lifespan of minions doubled, Mummy hitpoints increased by 20%.
Desert Wind: Camel speed, hack attack, and hit points +20%.
In my oppinion Osiris is the best Mythic Age God. His God Power is just incredible; The Son of Osiris is the most powerful unit in the game except the Titan and it can turn the tide of a major battle with his chain-lightning attack that hits up to 4 units. It can also inflict major damage to a Titan. New Kingdom is also extremely powerfull. With your priests empowering abillities you can use both of your Pharaohs in the battle along with Son of Osiris so Myth Units are useless waste of population slots and resources against you. But they are powerful not only against Myth Units, but against infantry if they are behind a meat-shield. If I don't want to use them in battle, I just take them to empower different buildings like Monuments, Town Centre, Towers, Migdols, etc.
Desert Wind if the best best tech for human soldiers in the entire game if you ask me. It just makes the already powerful Ra Camels even better. The best thing is their speed as you can raid your opponent easely and run after, before some arrows touch them.
Mummies have the best special effect of all Myth Units in the game: They lose a unit and you gain one, so it's a +2 for you. That can turn the tide of a battle especially if you research Atef Crown to strenghten the Minions. I use 2-3 of them in battles so that's an instant +6 for me, pretty impressive. On their own they are not that good because of the low pierce attack.
Funeral Barge is a tech I only used one time because I don't like Water maps but it was pretty usefull against Triremes and Logboats.
In Mythic Age I start the Trade route and create a maximum of 14 caravans; that means I will have absolutely no problem with my Gold Stock ( most of the time,If I get to Titan Age, I end the game with 10000+ Gold, Food is also not a problem because of all those techs ).
I get all possible upgrades ( If I have enough favor ) and go to battle. I destroy his forward bases with Camels and a few Elephants, but mostly Desert Wind Camels because of their high speed. After that I go and attack his economy base. I usually have to conduct up to 10 attacks to weaken him enough. I build 3 or 4 Catapults and garnisson them into my free Roc, then I move them in the middle of their city only if I already have some troops there to support them. I first destroy his Tow Centre, then his Houses / Manors, then his Millitary Buildings and Towers. If he starts a Titan Gate I harrass his Villagers with Camels or Locust Swarm and then destroy it. However, if he manages to summon the Titan I have two choices:
1. I build mine if I haven't already and fight it with Eclipse. That guarantees me the win in the Titan Fight.
2. If I haven't finished the Titan yet I mass Priests and I garnisson them along with the two Pharaohs in a Roc and go to attack the Titan. When he approaches I ungarnisson them back and start attacking it. By the time he gets to my walled base I should have finished the Titan because Son oftwo biggies begin to fight I ungarnisson the Priests and Pharaohs and I win easely the battle ( in case I already used Eclipse. If I didn't it's even easier. )
This is it. I'd like to get feed-back to this topic / guide of how-ever you like to call it ( I wouldn't call it a guide because I don't have experience on ESO ). Critique / Flames / Oppinion are all accepted. Osiris can empower the Tita Gate and finish it much faster ( Pharaohs and Priests can do that too ) and take him into the battle. In the moment those
