Hi! Everyone in these forums always recommend recorded games. I absolutely agree with you all; they sound great. But is there any way i could possibly download some Mac vanilla (that means non-titans expansion, right?) recs from anywhere? Any sites you know that I could use? Coz I'm not really getting much better as it is. Thanks.

You can't record vanilla games. And you can't get titans on a Mac so....

"You can't record vanilla games"
I have done it before so don't dismiss people without reason. Whether i can get them is not the question. The question is where i can get them.

I have; that site and all other aom rec sites are biassed towards pcs.

Also, even when I do find macintosh recorded games (emailed from friends or from a site that I found recently) they work as badly as windows recs do (players never advance past archaic, vills go to first food source and then just stand there doing nothing when it's finished). The frustrating thing is that these games work; they just don't do what the authors say they will. I'm getting EXTREMELY frustrated trying to find mac recs that work =(!

PS. are there any patches I can get or updaters that will enable me to watch em? Cos I haven't downloaded any in ages.

The latest Mac version is 2.0.1. There have been three patches for the Mac edition of the game, only one of which was probably ever intended to be released:

1.01

  • Updated the code base to PC version 1.07. (These changes are listed in detail below in section E.)
  • Most of the changes for this version were for improving GameRanger support, which now works much better overall. In addition, the following specific changes were made:
-- The initial connection process for GameRanger games is much more reliable now, especially when running behind a router.
-- Added support for GameRanger Premium.
-- Online games now work from dial-up connections.
-- Startup movies are skipped when launching GameRanger games.
  • The 1.01 version is now network compatible across all different language versions. English, French, and German versions can play network and online games.
  • Both "delete" keys (the large one and the small one above the arrow keys) will now destroy units and buildings.
  • Cmd-Shift-P will pause the game (useful for laptops).
  • Occasionally the installer will leave a few files with truncated file names. The application now looks for these and renames them at launch time.
  • Fixed a crash bug that occurred when you looked at the Help page for certain units (the "Giant Killer Einherjar", for example).
  • Fixed a bug where units that have been hurled through the air (from a meteor attack, for example) would sometimes stop right above the ground and stay there, helplessly flailing away.
  • Fixed a bug where you could garrison units inside of the hero unit Amanra.
  • Removed a few PC-specific items from the Options screen.
  • Fixed the warning for saving over existing files for save games.
  • Added support for the middle mouse button, which cycles through latest notifications.
  • Added support for saving and loading files with "extended" characters with accent marks (this is mainly for foreign versions).
  • Slight performance improvements.

    2.0

  • AoM is now compatible with Intel-based Macs.

    2.0.1

  • Fixed a network issue that stopped AoM users playing online with OS X Leopard.

Since 1.07 was the last AoM patch that contained balance changes, the latest version of AoM Mac has the same balance as AoM 1.10. You should obviously install the 2.0.1 patch and then try your recorded games again. Unless they were recorded using AoM Mac 1.0.0, they should playback properly with the latest patch installed.

When a thread, like this one, has already had the question answered multiple times, usually it degenerates into chaos. You're going to have to live with it.

Am I not wrong? Get a real computer. macs are pathetic. lol. They look cool, but when nothing is really compatible, or you have to wait a year to get something for it, then you are going to be thinking that this pretty computer wasn't worth it.

Macs aren't that bad. For 6 year old stuff like AoM you're obviously going to have some troubles finding what you want for a mac, because most of the people who are still into it use PC's, which are far more valuable as gaming computers.

It always drives me nuts when Mac owners are preaching about how PC sucks, and how Mac doesn't get viruses, doesn't crash etc etc (which isn't actually true).
However, I can assume that like that, Mac owners don't much like it when people with "real computers" are dissing their machines.

OK I can see this is not going anywhere nice so unless you have a suggestion about where to get Mac recorded games, please cease posting in this thread.

Thank you for your help there, DragonQ. I was beginning to think that everyone had forgotten the original purpose of this thread XD.

As for communication, I would prefer not to give out my email address to the general public, but I would be very grateful if anyone could provide a detailed explanation of what i can do to fix this problem through this forum. Thanks.
