I was just thinking about that Greek stable that shows a horse and a villager instead of just being static. Well what if garrisoning villagers inside buildings actually has an effect on that building?

Maybe with a maximum of 2 or 3 villagers per building, you could garrison villagers inside them to speed up unit creation/tech research and/or make it cost less.

The main downside from this is that is would be awfully to raid towns because the villies could garrison anywhere.

Hmmm. . . maybe it could be a permanent garrison. . . or something.

Dang, I don't even like this idea anymore

Can anyone think of a way this potential problem might be fixed?

Just make it so you have to manually garrison villagers inside so when you ring the town bell (or whatever AoM's variant of it is) villies don't go inside those types of buildings. I think this is a cool idea, though the production speed shouldn't really speed up by much. 25% faster per villie maybe? I think garrisoning villies would be better if it were in a place like the armory or siege workshop.

Top idea mate. To solve the problem perhaps the vills could be running around the outside or pictured in the buildings graphics so that they can still be targeted individually even when they are helping the production of a building?

Yeah that would keep people from using the buildings for defensive purposes.

The builidng u saw was an old ES idea...
the idea was to have a villy taking care of horses in the stables. he wouldn't make any difference, just an animation like the donkey on the dark age mill in AoK...

Ya, the more recent images of stables etc seem to all be without little dudes and horses etc.

It could be just eye candy that made the villagers walk up and down and tend to horses and whatnot...

And Thunder, my theory on that is you notice the recent screenshots moving to graphics of different [one assumes] later ages...so perhaps like the progression of earlier screenies to newer ones, there are buildings for the later ages still being detailed by the artists.

Just a theory., and probably way off.
