I don't think good and evil would work. Imagine if you were a 'good' civ, and were forced to remain that way - you wouldn't have the ability to be violent and defend your nation from the 'evil' civs.

good does mean your helpless, you just are benovolent and kind to those who desirve and sometimes to those who don't desirve it, but if something is a threat to 'good' you must remove that threat otherwise good will die and only evil is left
