Hello guys!
I'm so happy!! I have been playing AoM since last Christmas and since hard mode wasn't that kind of a challenge anymore I have been trying now for a few weeks to win also in titan mode. Since I obviously wasn't good enough for a 1v1 (AI) game and definitely not if the opponent was an agressive rusher, I tried it a few times with other/the following settings:
# of Players: 3
Map Type: Custom
Map Size: Normal
AI Difficulty: Titan
Game Type: Supremacy
Handicapped: No
Shared Resources: No
Shared Population: No
Cheats Allowed: No
AoM Version: AoM
Player 1's Name: default (me) (Isis)
Player 2's Name: Coptus (AI) (also Isis, I think)
Player 3's Name: Viborg (AI) (a norse, Loki?)
gaming time: > 140 min
And finally it worked! :-)
I used no cheats and obviously (see gaming time) not used a quick rush with building walls around my enemies or something like that either.
I just was lucky, I think, because my two opponents didn't come to fight with me so often 'cause they were very busy fighting against each other. So I had all the time I needed to grow. I had at first 3 town centers and when I felt strong enough I also took one from the green one (Viborg) with divide and conquer strategy and a lot of walls. Then the time came to start a massive attack. I attacked Viborg first, because I thought he was the stronger one of the two, took them and afterwards I also destroyed the three town centers left from the red one. All in the same rush.
But viewing the postgame I was very surprised! In all the AoM games I played so far, I always had the highest total score too in case I won. But this time it was different:
So I won with least total score!
The also low lost of military units (2nd screen shot) is partly explained with the fact that I fought mostly behind walls (with lots and lots of priests and petsuchos) and just came out to the end of the game. But it can be sure also be explained with the fact that both of my enemies preferred to come by me only at times and fought most of the time against each other.
So I really would like to know why this happened like this? Is it, because I was the weakest from the beginning and they didn't see me as a risk? Or was it, because I made no research and walls until I had researched everything else and was already in mythic age?
What do you think?
Normally in titan mode the AI doesn't care if you are weak or not. I have already tried doing really nothing and he still comes and beats me up. I looked into the recorded games area, but couldn't find any good hint there to beat AI in titan mode without any obvious cheats (except the one with walls around the enemy - but it takes all fun, doesn't it?) (and besides most of the titan mode games in the recorded area I have watched aren't in titan mode imho although stated in the beginning?). But I will definitely continue trying cracking the titan mode in 1v1 with no cheats in the future (and maybe start recording games ;-), so I can show you guys better what I was doing).
I'm so happy!!
