I've trawled the forums to find some info on the best way to cope with this but can't find anything. I would appreciate a few pointers. I usually play Hades.

Quite often I am just waiting for this combo to arrive, bt I'm not sure of the best way to cope with it.

Many thanks

Try and get him to use a/e as a defensive gp, not as an aggressive one.

For example if he starts to build a forward migdol and you pressure it forcing him to use a/e there and then running away with cavalry. Just try and keep track of gold mines and town centers as this will be where he will build.

Another good thing to do, especially on more closed maps and if you can get him to use it away from your base, is to put a few walls where your army is traveling a lot, that way when the opponent does use AE, you can just run behind them.

spam walls or have a bit of a classical army find his mig
and attack it

make sure you have both heros out too

Build forward to watch over his 2nd gold, hunt all over the map to gain the food advantage, and force him to use it as a way to simply break out of his base...

As Husker said, you don't want him to be using it to hit your TC... It'll destroy you backed by eles and chariots...

building forward is risky

its better to have your army attack him in a forward position where his mig is going

basically the later you delay him using a/e, the better it is for you

if it's late enough, you can just run away with your whole army and let him kill your buildings you've built forward. after your original group of longhouses and fort(s) (if you haven't built walls)

then just go attack his forward base, use fw if needed and you're good to go

Hmph, whatever. This is just what I do, and it works pretty well for me. In the end though, its up to you.

it was kind of hard to literate what i wanted to describe lol, without just running on and on

but i had a good example of when i got freeze hacked by youporn_com on aots

he waited a LONG time to use a/e, i had 3 tc's, a couple forts, a TON of hill forts, so he took down 1 fort and like 1 longhouse with a/e, and virtually none of my army...

so ya, it was a successful a/e for me imo :P
just kinda hard to describe

Complaints about a/e are usually complaints about an entire highly refined strategy, not just a gp combo.
A person with a plan and a refined strategy > a person without one.
Isis does a minor boom and fast tech with minimal units for defense and either uses a/e to establish forward gold or destroy your economy if they don't need to, or use it for a very strong heroic push.
What's your Plan? And what's your plan for dealing with how he's going to use a/e?
