Topic Subject:Multiplayer Lobby system

Hi everyone,

I recently started playing Age of Mythology again (after 5 years). And I lost my ESO(1) account details and I can't restore it. So I can't play online using ESO and only with a few friends through Direct IP/LAN function with opening ports.

Now I was thinking. Now that Ensemble Studios is gone. There will be a time (in the coming 5 years?) that the ESO servers will be shutdown. At that time there isn't any centralized game system anymore. Which sucks since you can only play with friends and such.

That's why I came up with an idea to start creating a lobby system for AoM and TT. Which allows to meet new people and create a lobby (just like ESO) and search lobbies/games but then play using Direct IP/Hamachi instead.

It's possible to integrate bits of this application into AoM itself.

My main question for this is if people are interested in this.

Tell me your opinion about this and any suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

IT would make sense, because Microsoft can't run the server forever. But I'm guessing that seeing as DoF is out soon that it will take AoM's place.

ESO is maintained by Robot Entertainment.

I haven't really been paying attention to everything that's been going on.

What happened to Ensemble? Were they bought out by Robot Entertainment after they made Halo Wars?

Ensemble Studios was disbanded by Microsoft. Most of the former employees set up two new companies: Robot Entertainment and Bonfire Studios.

Take my love, take my land, take me where I cannot stand.
I don't care, I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.
Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't comin' back.
Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.
There's no place I can be, since I found Serenity.
But you can't take the sky from me...

What's DoF?

Also, I know that Robot Entertainment maintains ESO now. But as far as I know they don't have any contract to maintain it for x years. It's just when they feel to stop with it, it stops.

They aren't stopping anytime soon imo. Also, pretty sure DoF is not going to do anything compared to SC2.

What's DoF?
DoF = Dawn of Fantasy

It's an MMORTS being developed by Reverie World Studios.

Check out the official site or Dawn of Fantasy Heaven for more information.

DoF looks amazing and +million points for all employees but one coming from HG. How can I not support these guys? The packaged scenarios will be killer and the editor is amazing.

I just heard the words Editor, Scenarios, and Amazing in the same sentence. Gtfo DoF.

Edit: Okay, I was tempted to click the honestly looks pretty decent as it will have RTS as its main component and MMORPG as the tangent to go with it.
