Recently I have been playing the Fall of the Trident Campaign once again and I noticed some stuff that I never did before, and some of them always bothered me. I just wanted to create a list.
Why did Gargarensis even needed to close the first gate? If there are other ways into the underworld he could have just used a different entry point and opened the gate.
In the Where they Belong Campaign intro Setna dissappears never to be seen until the ending cinematic. He sends the signal and talks how Amanra and Chiron have their pieces with them, when the game begins, our original recovered piece is already at the pyramid and Setna is nowhere in sight.
After the long nightmare level, two lines of dialog has been omitted. In the final version of the game Setna answers the wrong question. Instead of confirming Ajax and explaining that the pyramid is atop another underworld gate, he just explains that if they find the pieces of Osiris he will live again. ( This always actually kind of bothered me, I only recently noticed the unusued dialogs)
Again, during the nightmare speech Athena mentions that if Kronos escapes Atlantis will be in ruins. Kronos doesn't escape, but Atlantis ends up far worse. It goes to the bottom of the ocean.Oh Athena you troll.
In the first level of the Norse section of the campaign Ajax and Chiron are nowhere in sight. There is only Arkantos and Amanra, but at the beginning of the next scenario they magically appear out of nowhere.
During the Skult scenario, we came across a frozen river behind a thick forest. Skult mentions the river and what they are going to do next. Strange part is river was never a problem to begin with. It was the forest that was stopping our heroes. And the forest fire from Odin cleared it. (In that same level Giants are worshipping Odin, while we are worhipping Loki, strange huh?)
Why did Arkantos wait that long to question Skult.
In the Well of Urd level, our heroes start building everything from scratch even though we built a massive village there just a level ago. ( First part is the only level where we actually have Odin as our Major God)
In the same level, how did Eitri and Brokk reached the underworld unseen? We were basically using the well all that time.
Zeus cannot directly close the gates but Thor can?
In the very final level, Gargarensis just stands there in front of the Gate. This time there is also no giant gate ram or anything. So how is he exactly planning to open the gates again?
This one is a bit more strange. How come Athena doesn't know about the gate under the Atlantis? And how come that gate isn't deep enough?
This one is just laziness I guess. Why do we even need a wonder for Zeus to bless us?Doesn't he care about the end of the world. (Unused dialog points to a final battle between the statues of Poseidon and Zeus, odd)
In the expansion:
For all the places they could have gone, how come Atlanteans choose the Norselands as their new home?
After her life time servitude to Isis and Osiris, Amanra starts worshipping Set right after Osiris' pyramid collapses.
Where is Arkantos during Kastor's visit to Olympus? In fact how come he never visits Kastor, but constantly shows up before Amanra?
Why do we worship Oranos instead of Gaia during the Atlantis colony level? Didn't they just establish that she was the only non-destructive Titan?
This campaign doesn't really feature any of the old norse heroes. So how did they manage to send a helping hand during the final level. Even Kastor had no idea where the sky passage would lead.
A final gripe: Why did they remove every single race related dialog from the game? Especially the mentions of Greeks, Egyptians.
And finally whatever happened to the Hades gates and the Reginleif dialog. Where was that originally going to play? It kinda sounds like it was going to happen during the union level, but I can't be sure. Because it also sounds like it could have happened during the Well of Urd level. Or perhaps an entirely original level. They also never mention the Norse Underworld as Erebus during the campaign.
There is also missing dialog from Theseus about guiding us out of the underworld. (Strangely that is the only mention of him. Everything else got cut out too?Or replaced by the Hades shade.)
Anyway, I have been a massive fan of AOM for years and played all these campaigns several times and I just wanted to mention them, mostly because I couldn't find a single post mentioning them. Is there anything you find odd about AOM campaign, or any explanations to some of these issues?
