Sub-Types used in-game
These are the sub types used in-game
Anti-Cavalry Infantry
This includes Hoplites, Ulfsarks, Spearmen and Murmillo and Kaltapeltes.
Bonuses! Good against Cavalry, average speed, cheap and Average against pretty much everything else.
Weaknesses: Bad against Archers, and counter infantry.
Counter Infantry
This Includes: Hypaspists, Axemen, and Throwing Axemen.
Bonuses! Good Against Infantry, Awesome Armor, Awesome Health.
Weaknesses: Bad against everything else (except Throwers), slow and normally expensive.
Specialty Infantry
This includes: Myrmidons, Huskarls and Fanatics
Bonuses! Good against Other Civ's Units/Archers/Every other unit, great health, average against non-bonus enemies and fantastic armor.
Weaknesses: Expensive, Slow to mass, requires the most expensive structure.
Siege Infantry
Includes: Destroyers
Bonuses! Great Armor, Great Health, Great Attack, Good versus buildings.
Weaknesses: Countered by Counter Infantry, slow, EXPENSIVE, SLOW TO MASS.
Archer
Includes: Toxetes, Slingers, and Arcusei
Bonus: Kills at range, good against Units, and easy to mass.
Weaknesses: Easy to kill, poor hack armor, and somewhat expensive, useless versus Cavalry (unless using infantry meat shields)
Skirmishers
Includes: Peltasts
Bonus: Kills at range, good against Archers, easy to mass, cheap, good pierce armor.
Weaknesses: Few to none Hack armor, weak, low health, only available in the 3rd age, terrible against everything
Weakness.
Mounted Archers
Includes: Chariot Archers, and Turma
Bonus: Good versus archers, fast, average health, good hit and running.
Weaknesses: Generally expensive, countered by Skirmishers, slow to mass.
Siege Archers
Includes: Gastraphestes
Bonus: Good versus Buildings, high attack, good health.
Weaknesses: If not protected, easily killed, expensive, hard to mass.
Heavy Cavalry
Includes: Hippikon, Contarius and Raiding Cavalry.
Bonuses: Good versus Archers, average against everything else, good health.
Weaknesses: Sluggish, expensive, slow to mass.
Counter Cavalry
Includes: Prodromos
