Ah DAMN. That *sucks*. Man, I thought there were special shimo maps in AoM. If that's the case, then NONE of those games were ever recorded. One of the reasons why I value AOE2 *so* much is that I can watch my old recorded games from 10 years ago - the memories are still as intense as they were then.
Alt-tab minimizes the window so I can do other things while alt-tabbed.
Haha, synopsis of game below:
the MOST epic one was a world map diplomacy style game!!! 8 players, where u come from the north and try to figure out where to land. Of course, it usually ends up in everyone teaming up against the most powerful player.
There were a couple of disconnects (that left a couple of powerful players gone), but I ended up being the second most powerful player (or the person who is the NEMESIS to the most powerful player). as usual, I built up on military very slowly, and the first-place dude (blue) went after Booma first, as he was easiest and settled on Eurasia. I settled on North America and allied with everyone else on the continent. booma then started building HIS titan on the VERY eastern edge of the map, and then I started building my Titan. i also cast the Tartarian in the middle east to disrupt blue's trade routes.
(leaving a mess for him to deal with) eventually booma gave up and then blue raided my northwestern ally who had settled in Western Canada. And.. he collected SO MANY RESOURCES that it went into SO many hordes of elephants. Like, for EVERY PACK of elephants that my titan (and then my NONENDING SWARM OF MURMILLOS that cane JUST AS QUICKLY) murdered, he'd just send MORE AND MORE. there were MULTIPLE forward bases, so if I eliminated one. but eventually he casted meteor showers on my barracks which wiped out my swarm of murmillos and i had to retreat to south america. also.. i evetually made forward settlements in africa.
oh yeah and i also then realized that the numerous chaos nymphs i created could actually turn the enemy units into GAIA, which meant they could start attacking each other. Actually I had a "Xenophon's" army of those nymphs that caused QUITE a lot of chaos as it rumbled on east of eurasia over the himalayas into india, and it took a LONG time for him to track
i didn't understand how a lot of the god powers worked so I ended up placing spells incorrectly. like.. i casted the Hesperides to put in trees near the enemy, but i didn't realize that the enemy could ALSO place trees too.
but ultimately, me and my newbie ally couldn't deal with his hordes, then I ended up getting A LOT of my sea and flying units to retreat ALL over the map. it annoyed the HELL out of blue. and dragged the game out for hours (while i ate dinner, cleaned my room, and stuff while he had to find ALL the units i hid ALL AROUND THE MAP). roaching at the VERY best (even though he had spies so it's not like hiding in AoE where if you wanted to hide all over the mpa, he COULDN'T FIND YOU IF YOU ROACHED )
the saddest thing was that SOMEHOW I DIDN"T GET THE RECORDED GAME. either becuase it was scenario or lasted too long or i alt-tabbed and stuff
===
me being atlantis means i have a villager population limit (which meant i couldn't make all the resources that blue made). also, now i realize why some people choose isis in diplo games. if you survive long enough to make it in the late game, almost nothing can beat packs of elephants (well, other than my titan, but even my titan could not last forever).[This message has been edited by Simfish (edited 10-26-2015 @ 03:38 PM).]
