Something I've been pondering. Norse are definitely not regarded as an economic civilization, but at least on paper they should be very good economically.
Compared to Greeks:
Their only downside that I can see is that Ox carts ARE a bit pricey up-front in resources and train time. But in the long term those should give you savings compared to spending resources and villager time building numerous storehouses/granaries.
So what is it that I'm not seeing? What holds the Norse back and prevents them from being regarded as one of the best economies (obviously after Ra and Isis and Nu Wa)?
1) No need to waste villagers gathering favor, freeing them up to get other resources instead
2) No need to waste villagers building things, freeing them up to gather resources instead
3) Many buildings slightly cheaper
4) Poseidon has the only economic major god power. Odin is, bar none, the best food god in the game with Great Hunt for massive immediate hunting and herding, a free hunting rate bonus, and the game's best scouting to find all the herdables first. Thor has a strong economy too with cheap, efficient dwarves and the useful Pig Sticker upgrade available almost immediately.
5) Dwarves grant a very large gold income boost in the long-term. Heck, they're even a little bit tougher than villagers which makes them a tiny bit harder to raid.
6) No need to build 3 different types of troop-producing buildings because the Longhouse is versatile.
