If one "cult" worships a certain deity does that mean another "Civilization" of the same culture worship that same minor deity? Or are there 18 different Deities per culture?

Egypt was actually monotheistic for a short while. Akhenaten, the father of Tutankhamun, abolished the worship of all other gods in favor of the sun god, Amun-Re. He also moved the capital city somewhere up the Nile from where it had been. The power of preists was greatly diminished and Akhenaten too over all religious duties of the country. Needless to say history's first monotheistic experiment wasn't very popular. Akhenaten's name was erased from temple walls, statues of him were smashed, and his name was chisled off of the official list of pharaohs. Tut did everything he could to restore his family's good name, but it wouldn't wear off for some time.
