I don't think monuments would work that way since there is nothing that they would be touching. I don't think they'd do it based on roads or anything because what will happen if the monument is between two roads or is in the middle of a road?

I agree, B&W would be a major pain to play with without a wheel mouse. If ES can do something innovative with the mouse wheel I say they should. Mice are cheap and you can go out and get one with a wheel on it.

I think that the building angle is just eye candy, too. The idea that Ostrich had was a good one; I think that it would be better if the player chooses the angle of the buildings instead of the game. As for the building-in-construction at the bottom left I think that it is another guard tower or maybe a watch tower (i don't know why one would be THERE)and that the slightly off base is just some warped representation of 3-D as the workers build up the tower.
