Imagine being able to chose a torture to be inflicted upon captured enemies, to reveal where their base is, how many there are etc. (like in the Dungeon Keeper series and starving them to death in prisons!)

too much micro management.
not as fun IMHO.

Lets stick with just hunting them down.

If anything, research spies.

Ya, spies. Killing is more fun than proding a bunch of guys while your economy starts to screw itself because you're spending too much time poking guys with sticks. I'd say spies (or maybe something more like treason where you only get to see where the enemy's TC is).

If two wrongs don't make a right, try three!

Just imagine gouging out the cyclop's single eye!
Or impaling an enemy on a spike surrounded by fire.
Then again, maybe the idea is a bit sick, but then again it would look good.

oh, it'd be cool to torture people, but it'd grow old fast.

AOM will eventually become systomatic. You do this, and then this, and this. YOu compensate for random events. Torturing people will only become one of those things you try to do, and you won't just sit back and watch this dude get tortured.

In fact, most of the game will prorably become that way.
You will not be thinking, "Look at those graphics", or "This is really cool", but more of, "How do i take this settlement", or "How do i do this".
This is what will deteremine how fun the game eventually is. the more of these questions and the more devirse they are, the better the game.

I beleive.

On the idea of spies it would look good if you could control units dressed as enemies so the enemy player will think those units are his and will not be informed of an attack against him by you, when spies are being used against him, rather than just revealing their town centre like Treason in the Regicide mode of AOK.

interestingly enough, that was the original design of spies, villagers that looked like a un-friendly players villagers. But they changed it, and for the better IMO.

Torture pit gave me an idea...How about a god power that reduces the HP of all in a certain area? Sort of like the opposite of healing spring...

Give me money, and I might feel generous enough to say something kind.

Ah, that’s why once again, we need 1) Random starting resources 2) Random resources around the base 3) Come on, real random maps! Like, different starting positions perhaps? THE MORE RANDOMNESS THE BETTER says I. Argh, read my predictability post if you can find it…

Deadlydentures what you say is so true. I personally will be furious if I have waited for all this time just for the game to turn old fast… I want endless, or as close to it , replayability. Don’t follow AOK’s path… It was a great game…but it fell short in the end I would have to say, too predictable...

That is pretty sick, and besides Microsoft wouldnt touch that with a 37 1/2 foot pole. I mean, they took hats off jannisaries, and you think microsoft would even think about that idea?
