RVD_Germ: yes it was random. The pool of people was just smaller. I'm sure they gathered a large group of AoMHers, PAoEers, MFOers etc, and then randomly selected a number of them.

As I understand it, just getting the CD isn't going to be enough. The purpose of this test is to see how the ES multiplayer server is going to fare. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm thinking that multiplayer will no longer be possible without going through the ES server or through a LAN. The CD will probably include a key, and if not, the confirmation email will require you to go and register an ID on the multiplayer server.
