Mostly I think this comes from us and not ES or Microsoft. If we are mature enough to enter a contest to test something we must be mature enough to know that by distributing the game without permition we will be getting in the way of some marketing plans.

Well, a CD key is a way to prevent multiplayer games with only one copy of a game. When one computer sees the other computer is using the same CD key it won't allow them to play. There's really no use for a CD key except to maybe register your ID and password on ES's server. In other words, each CD may have a key that will be associated with a user account. In order for pirates to use the game, they'll either have to hack existing accounts (that would suck) or else create their own server which I would guess is not very easy to do.

I think the beta will still be online only. So that will be less insentive to pirate it.

In other words, Archangel, anyone can get the file (although it will be prohibitively large), but you need an ID and a password to be able to play on MS servers?

I always have to take my TC cd out after I start the game cause it lags so much.
