Enemy-Isis
The game starts out pretty good. I have been trying to practice my norse start in sp but my Classical time was still a min slower than my Greek. I forgot I needed my scouting ulfsark to build a temple.
I choose Heimdall as my minor God for the Undermine gp but his myth tech (making towers cheaper and stronger) saved my butt later on. I started to make some Raiding Calvary out of two longhouses so I could hit his gold mine. I brought along two TA that I had built to make some houses. (with him being Egypt I didn't build a single Ulfsark the entire game because Egypt doesn't get cav till age 3.
When I was raiding, my army bumped his. He had 2 anubites, a couple of slingers, and a priest. I destroyed his slingers with relative ease but his anunubites ate my calvary. (dang, hopilites don't have that much of a problem with them but they sure do eat up norse units).
Fortunatly i had some cavalry queued up and I could still raid with my new recruits. I built some Hersir to take care of those nasty anubites. I attacked his gold mine which he had just build a tower next to it. I undermined his tower and built two of mine own to replace it. This became pretty important because most of the game revoved around fighting over gold mines and he was too afraid to attack my towers.
My raiding party eventually died my getting lured into some towers and he got smart to build some spearmen. I built TA to comesate (I also had plenty of favor for the horn blowing guy). With a new army I attacked the other side of his city killing two farmers and their farms. He attacked me with anubites, spearmen, and slingers. I forgot to bring Hersir for the MUs and my army got slaugtered. Paniking I built a new army instead of advancing.
Around this time I noticed that my gold mine was empty. I packed up and moved to the gold mine near my slightly forward built temple. (notice the fact that my economy was fully upgraded.
I built a blacksmith which I had forgotten to do. And tryed to get my gold mining back on track. I neglected to keep the pressure on my enemy which turned out to be a rather large mistake. He had taken another gold mine which was somewhat near my temple (remember I had one of his gold mines towered up and the other one he was mining at had probably run out) and had built like 5 towers in the general area.
He attacked my mining spot so I put the miners in a tower kind of far away (i was going to build another but I was so gold deprived) and forgot about them. My barely upgraded troops managed to drive his army back and I thought I had lost the gold miners so I moved my woodcutters, who had built up a large surplus on to gold.
He continued to attack that spot but my upgraded hornblowing guys,(which helped alot) TA, hersir, and raiding cavalry stopped most of the attacks. ( I had all the 2nd age blacksmith upgrades at this point.) I finally built a tower by that mine and moved some villies/dwarfs to an unclamied one that was away from the fighting(thanks to my towers protecting that side of the map). I noticed I had accidently put some dwarfs on wood *slaps head*
With the new gold mine I finnally advanced to Heroic. I choose Bragi who has the mountain giant and walking woods, both of which are very sweet.
Right as I advanced he attacked hard, almost destroying my temples (i tried to get villies to repair instead of inf Walking woods is a SWWWWWEEEET Gp that is very effective if you support the trees with your own army. I destroyed his army and made quick work of his towers with my siege and giant. (very good against buildings, too bad it didn't have a chance to go up against slingers) I destroyed a bunch of farms which he had built over in that area behind the towers and he resigned. Very fun game, I have got to play Norse more often
