Humour, sense of, I do have indeed, I assure you.
But remember that humour works best when applied to the appropriate circumstances.
Now I'm not saying that AoM is not the proper place to be putting humour into, but, if you recall, AoK had humour only when you cheated, i.e. Cobras or Furious Monkey Boy or when you used one of the hilarious taunts. If I was a general of an army, I can see myself shouting hilarious taunts so it is not unrealistic.
So, in AoK, the humour was either only in cheats or it was completely realistic. Therefore we can say that the humour applied in AoK was appropriate and did not ruin the theme of the game when one played seriously.
Calling a pharaoh Larry, however, is neither a cheat nor realistic humour. It is dumb and in fact it's not even funny. It is inappropriate considering the theme of the game and the history of the company that has made the Age games.
It may be funny to some of you, but it was a bad call in my opinion. I can see how it would be funny if I was 16 years old or younger, because the level of humour is far more immature at that age, but being 24, perhaps I've developed a more sophisticated sense of humour over the years. Or perhaps it is watching the Simpsons and Seinfeld that developed my acute sense of humour. I don't know, but giving characters stupid names is just that: stupid. Unless of course you name them yourself, which is ok because nobody will be filthened by that isolated bit of stupidity. But it is now too late for all of that, isn't it?
